"Congratulations Lieutenant, Commander, it's a boy," The Doctor spoke as he handed the child to Kes who wrapped the baby in swaddling cloth.

"A boy," B'Elanna repeated breathlessly as she laid back in her husband's arms.

"You did good, B'Elanna," Chakotay smiled proudly as he kissed her temple, "You did real good."

"Here's your son," Kes smiled as she placed the baby in B'Elanna's waiting arms.

"He's beautiful," B'Elanna smiled as she looked to her husband, "Thank you."

"No, thank you," Chakotay kissed his wife gently before gazing at the son she had just given birth to.

Kes and The Doctor left the new parents to themselves after a few moments.

B'Elanna held the child in her arms and looked to Chakotay, "I never thought I'd be able to say this, but I'm happier in this moment than I've ever been or ever could be. You've given me a son, been a good husband, and now I finally have the family I've always yearned for."

"You're not getting emotional on me, are you?" Chakotay teased as he wrapped his arms around his wife and their child, "You're going to be a wonderful mother. I know you've been worried about what kind of mother you'd make."

"How did you…"

"I know you, B'Elanna. I also know that you're going to be the best possible mother our child could ever have. He's lucky to have you," He watched their son for a few moments, "What are we going to name him?"

"I don't know. I always figured she'd be a girl," B'Elanna shrugged slightly, "At least, I hoped she would be. I know what a Klingon girl goes through. A Klingon male?" She sighed, "I'm afraid we have a little trouble ahead of us."

Chakotay chuckled softly, "Perhaps, perhaps not. He is three quarters human, after all. Maybe that'll be enough to mellow his Klingon traits."

She snorted, "Don't bet on it," She studied her son for a moment before speaking to the child, "No matter what, little one, we're your parents, and we're never going to stop loving you. Nothing you could ever do or say would change that. Don't ever be afraid of speaking with us either. We'll always be ready to listen to you, and we will always be there to help when you need it. Above all else, remember that we love you and we always will."

"Truer words were never spoken," Chakotay smiled as he kissed B'Elanna once more, proud of his son and of his wife.
