“Yuck,” said Julius. He held the cup away from him. “What is this stuff?”
Diana turned to him and replied, “I have no idea. Master Caesar brought it for Master Brutus, and he seemed to like it. I thought you would as well.”
“Well, not really.”
“I see that now.” She smiled at him and returned to cooking.
“Why does Brutus want all these…things?” Julius waved his hand around the kitchen. All over it where foods and beverages from across the Empire.
“He says he likes them. I believe it is because of the pregnancy.”
“Ugh.” Julius smacked his lips together. “I need water to wash that taste away. It’s just so tart.”
Diana handed him a glass. “I shall tell Master Octavian that you do not like it.”
Julius nodded his thanks and drank the water. He kept glancing at the door.
“He will return soon. And no, you can not go outside and wait for him.”
Julius pouted. “I’d be fine.”
“Hmm.”
They sat in silence until Octavian walked in. “Why so quite, love?” he asked.
“He is just be a brat,” said Diana.
“So, business as usual?”
Julius smacked him on the stomach. “Shut up.”
“Ah, Julius. You know I love you as you are. Did you drink your juice?”
“No. I don’t like the taste of it.”
Octavian took the cup and sipped it. He made a face. “Neither do I. It’s much too tart.”
Julius smiled at him.
