Octavian walked into the kitchen and set his riding equipment aside. “It’s not the same Diana,” he complained to the cook.
Octavian, Caesar, Julius, and Brutus were at their country villa. Caesar didn’t want his husband and young ward to be stared at. The healers had banned both men from their normal activities, one of which including riding.
“I know Master Octavian, but Julius can not go riding. He could be injured or worse. And the baby!” Diana threw her hands in the air. “It’s hard enough to be pregnant without having to ride a horse.”
Octavian nodded. “I know that.” He sighed. “Where is that little one of mine?”
Diana smiled. “He is resting in the sunroom.”
Octavian smiled back and left for the sunroom. He found Julius leaning against the many pillows. Julius was about to drink from a cup. “Julius!” he cried. “What are you drinking?”
Julius turned to Octavian. “Uh, water?”
“I can see the steam. Is that coffee? You know the healers said no coffee until well after the baby is born.”
Julius pouted. “I know, I’m just craving it so badly.”
Octavian took the cup away and summoned a servant. “Take this away and bring us some chocolate.” He turned back to Julius. “It might not be the same thing, but at least I know the healers won’t yell at me for it.”
Julius laughed as he threw his arms around Octavian.
