the post is still in russian :P

first class of italian today and we spent like an hour trading back and forth "what is your name"s. i kid you not. we didn't even get up to "how are you?" or the various responses to that. *flails* i forgot about this powerless feeling where i don't know any verbs (or anything else) in a language. i want to be like "FEED ME VERBS NOW PLEASE"

I WHOLE HEARTEDLY AGREE. THAT IS THE MOST FRUSTRATING THING EVER IN RUSSIAN 101. I CAN'T EVEN SAY "GO"!!!!

dude you don't want to learn that. there are 50 million ways in russian to say go. it's called verbs of motion and it will make you cry.

Yes I do want to learn that, because then I will be able to say things like "I am going to go to class now!" and I would be able to say something useful and therefore actually practice. That's how I practice, which is why my main thing that I can say in Spanish is stuff about food, clothes, going places or school.

The problem is that there really are multiple ways of saying it... there are multiple verbs for to go, depending on how you're getting there, then divided by if it's uni- or multi-directional, which are then divided by aspect (sometimes kind of irregularly), then prefixes. A lot of prefixes. I still don't understand most of it. :(

I'm going to class now, depending on if you're driving or walking, would be:
"Сейчас иду на урок" (walking)
"Сейчас еду на урок" (driving)
That is, of course, only if you're heading straight to class (no detours)... haha.

Сейчас = now?
урок = class? It definitely what each chapter of the textbook is called.
на = This thing equals to ALSO? Dang, I was happy with just "on". And why isn't урок declined to уроке? Clearly I don't know things.
As for the verb....sure.

Yes for сейчас, урок means class AND lesson. mostly lesson. На is on but I mean it can be used in a directional sense, same as B. And the case of ypok, it takes prepositional (ypoke) when you are THERE or something is happening there, but when you're going there it takes accusative. That's how you could tell Ha/B apart I suppose.

Look:
Я была на уроке. (I was in class)
BUT
Я шла на урок. (I went to class)

Sorry if it's hard to understand :( These are the only case options you have after B/Ha though, so maybe that'll help to think of it like that?

Are you using Russian Stage One for your textbook? hehe

We are using "Troika", which features a nice old piece of art with three horses pulling a sleigh on the cover, as you might expect. We don't really like it, but it's bearable.

The trick here is that I haven't learned accusative yet!
