Summary: Despite of government 'Project Eternity' declaration, 5 genius boys were saved after their parents managed to hide their real intelligence. 10 years later, they witness their parents get caught in misunderstand and aim to save them.
Yet, they never thought it will drag to something serious.

Chapter 10
The clock showed exactly 11 at night when the five genius guys enter Mr. Hatsuyuki’s basement laboratory. They’re wearing almost a complete soldier’s uniform on their body and only needed a pair of goggle and gasmask more to finish their disguise. While Ohno walked toward Mr. Hatsuyuki’s mini satellite, his friends move to the computer’s screens which saved the blueprint of military’s base map. Nino then accessed into the program like he did last night for the one last time before turned to his friends behind.
“I’m going to close this now. Have you remembered the place you should go properly?”
“Yep. You can close it now.”
Nino nodded and looked back to the screen in front him. Ohno at the same time finally looked up from behind the satellite that he helped Mr. Hatsuyuki to fix since few days ago.
“Sho. I’d set the time.”
“Alright. What about the things I told you before? Did you finish it?”
The other one gave him a thumb up. Smilingly, Sho nodded as reply.
About couple of minutes later the five of them left Mr. Hatsuyuki’s house and Aiba drove to the town which next arrestment will be held using the car that it’s key he secretly took from the older man before. Mr. Hatsuyuki already fell asleep since hours ago after Jun secretly poured certain sleeping aid medicine into his water. Their guilt grew every second for did a lot of things without permission from the old scientist though he treated them kindly, but they also know they have no choice. They can’t bear to see anyone they knew being dragged away anymore.
“Anyone want to stop now? It’s still not too late.”
Sho suddenly asked after 15 minutes they sat in heavy silence. Aiba who drove the car looked at him from rare mirror immediately but didn’t say anything.
“I believe all of us more than ready.”
Ohno who sit next to Nino nodded smilingly. Even though Sho had make few changes from the real plan Mr. Hatsuyuki made for them, it’s not so hard to understand it since they already remember the military’s base map. Ohno then continued to look at front again when he found Jun on the front passenger’s seat was spaced outside car’s window. The guy obviously look immersed with something despite of how calm he is, just like him and the rest. It’s understandable after all. Tonight they might return with something and a needed to ask Mr. Hatsuyuki’s forgiveness for not listen to him and do whatever they please…or return with nothing but soulless body and being separated from each other.
Soon enough he realized Aiba finally stopped at a public parking lot not far from the targeted neighborhood. Yet, all of them just sat in silent for a while, didn’t show any sign to move at all. Nervous, fear and worry showed so obvious on their face, but no hesitance.
“WHO DROP THIS?!”
Ohno wakes up from his thought upon the sudden shout. He immediately looks at the Alpha team leader in front him. The five of them safely sneak among those men about half minute ago and thankfully their disguise still not busted at all.
“I said; WHO DROP THIS?!”
The team leader shouts startling the military’s truck one more time along with newly married couple and parents with their two kids who they just caught while ago. While lifting his hand in front his face to show a black device that he perhaps found on the truck’s floor, he keep on nagging about how careless whoever person who drop it considering that they’re an elite soldier.
“I COUNT TILL 3 OR-”
“Ah!”
Aiba’s sudden realization word makes all eyes there to lock at him. Quickly, the cheerful guy lifts his hand while apologizing, as well as admitting the device belongs to him. Fortunately the Alpha’s leader only warns and returns it without giving any punishment or the other four guys don’t know what their cheerful friend is going to face later.
“Satoshi?”
Sho’s small whispers beside him makes Ohno to hum softly as response with neither of them turn to look each other face.
“Are you sure Mr. Hatsuyuki wouldn’t realize about the change you did to his mini satellite? Masaki left a letter on his nightstand about what we’re doing so if he wakes up any moment-”
“Jun already told us that the medicine he gave to him can make him fall asleep for hours. So I believe he won’t in any close moment. Plus, I didn’t change anything. I just ‘add’ something on it but I’d make sure to not put it on obvious place. Even before we left I just switch on the satellite and set its automatic function to work.”
He hears Sho sighing behind the gasmask the latter wear.
“You trust us right? Everything is going to be alright.”
“Of course I do trust you guys, but it’s about Hatsuyuki-san.”
“He won’t do anything unnecessary. He knows it’s already too late to stop us. Even if he wakes up now he wouldn’t have any choice but wait or he know he might put our life in danger.”
“But…do you remember about his family’s photo?”
Ohno finally slightly turns to the guy beside him.
“It has thick dust on every inch of its surface including the photo’s glass.”
“Well, it’s because he couldn’t touch it right? It has a memory of his family after all.”
“But the photo was facing down. If he didn’t touch it for a long time there’s no way any single dust will stick on the glass. I felt weird since the first time I saw it but only recently I finally get what was not right about the photo.”
They feel the truck bump on something before slow down to somewhere.
“I think he hides something from us.”
Ohno blinks by the statement.
A minute later, the vehicle finally stop and the team leader tell them to not off guard with the criminals. As soon as they get off, the five guys stun for a second by the numbers of soldiers are gathering on assembly site not far from the dropping criminals’ point who maybe get ready for certain mission while some numerous more are on their night’s duty.
Now, they finally know what Mr. Hatsuyuki meant by they’re not prepared enough. The place has a completely high security level which the danger beyond anything they can imagine. But it’s already too late to turn back.
“Five of you. Take them to cell.”
Three of the soldiers who receive the order nod instantly before make their move to the victims. Ohno and Aiba at the same time freeze and look at each other, never expect that kind of thing will happen before.
“Hey, hurry up.”
One of the three gasmask men who were told to go with them suddenly said. The two teens are now in dilemma. Any small step which not flow same with Sho’s earlier plan might lead to big failure from this point. However, both guys know they have no choice.
“We’re coming.”
Aiba make an almost unnoticeable gesture to his friend before the two of them lift their rifle to in front their chest and follow the other three armies, making a small circle around the chained ‘criminals’. Sho, Nino and Jun on the other hand stuck on ground by the unexpected situation. Seeing the other Alpha’s members move to somewhere else, Jun nod to his two friends immediately before make his way from there to look for the power room as careful and as silent as he can. Sho and Nino meanwhile look at each other, giving a slight nod before follow the small group in front them.

After through an empty long corridor, pass by number of concrete buildings and several semi-size tents, Jun finally found the door which he remembers clearly is the electricity control’s room based on the map they’re analyzing since days ago. If they go along with Mr. Hatsuyuki’s plan he will suppose to come to air holes space or tank gas filling room, but Sho comes out with different idea. Instead of make the entire base pass out, the latter decide to just knock off certain people who guarding at certain place. Perhaps that way is same like they’re gambling their life, but it’s for the safety of the victims that the military already capture since they have no idea in what kind of circumstances those poor people are locked in now.
The moment the chemist hides behind empty tent which just six feet from the room, he look at the military’s digital watch on his wrist.
‘1.25 pm. 15 minutes more from the exact plan.’
He takes a quick deep breath before lift his gaze. In several more minutes Mr. Hatsuyuki’s mini satellite will disturb the base’s communication. Now he only can hopes Ohno to come there as soon as possible since they’re pairing up to sneak in there- Jun to put those men in unconscious state while Ohno will cut the electricity supply as well as disabling dozens of security camera to the information room that Sho and Nino will head to.
Soon, he hears footsteps approaching from behind. The teen almost panic when realize it is the arrogant General Officer who he and his friend just meet nights ago with his right man, walking while talking about something to the place he currently standing at. After glance to his surrounding, Jun finally choose to pretend to be one of night duty men.
“Good evening sir.”
He salutes the high-rank man as soon as the distance between him and the two men are close enough. Jun feel so incredibly worry when seeing both men suddenly stop and look at him, but finally nod and get inside the discussing tent that he’s coincidently use to hide. Jun then look at his watch again, sighing when find out there’s 10 minutes left.
“So you didn’t catch them sir?”
Sound of two chairs being pulled out from under desk follow by the right man’s question. Jun who catch it by chance silently listen to their further conversation.
“I can’t. That bastard Hatsuyuki was backing them up. We’re fated to be enemy till forever indeed.”
“Eh? Why was he there?”
“I don’t know. I heard from somewhere he’s living around there. That man always against every order and opinion I gave and now he’s helping those kids. How come such an arrogant professor received more appreciation and praises than us from ministry? Without us he’ll never had any chance to do his whatever ‘for sake of Japan’ research till now.”
Their words surprise Jun.
‘They didn’t know about the satellite? So Mr. Hatsuyuki did it without the government’s knowledge?’
“Sir, there’s something I always want to know. Did Hatsuyuki involve with Project Eternity? Cause as much as I know only special kids and government knew about it right? But he’s only a technology researcher.”
The General Officer replies it with a snort.
“I bet he didn’t. That’s why he tries really hard to find where ‘that’ was hidden to gain Mr. Prime Minister’s trust. Though I doubt ‘that’ is actually exist. That man was just a normal policeman. It’s too obvious.”
“The government seems so desperate till the level they arrest his son and friends.”
His words make Jun speechless.
‘They’re talking about us.’
All of sudden, the military’s base echoes with a very loud siren sound. Jun then found the entire soldiers around there immediately go to wherever they’re ordered to take care of when they’re having simulations. Both high-rank men inside the tent meanwhile stop talking and calmly come out. At first they ask Jun what happen but seeing the man doesn’t bring walkie-talkie with him, the right man take out his. However, the three men include Jun surprise when realize another thing.
“This can’t function.”
“What the-wait. System hijacking?”
Hit by realization, the chemist immediately shoves his hand into pouch on his hip. Before the General Officer and his assistant manage to give him any order, he quickly spray them with his sleeping mixture, making both men fall asleep to the ground under them just a second later. Then, he looks at his watch again.
“Already 1.41.”
He sighs worriedly when he still can’t see Ohno’s glimpse anywhere.
‘Seem I don’t have any choice.’
As fast as his feet can take him, the teen then run toward the electricity room. He knocks it twice while shouting emergency case is happening before hear rushing footsteps is coming closer and hurriedly step away from the doorway. After make sure where every security cameras around there has been place, he takes a deep breath and lift his rifle above his head’s level, ready to knock anyone who will come out from the door. Jun know he will definitely busted after this but either way he at least must make sure Sho and Nino can get inside the data information room. The moment he just about to hit whoever person that shows up from the open door, another unexpected thing happens.
Everything suddenly switches to dark.

“I guess it’s the time.”
Nino whisper to Sho beside him when both communication system hang and power outage occur. They couldn’t move so freely around there before due of numerous cameras presence which only can be stop if power cut happen. Relying only to their infrared goggle to observe their surrounding, both guys immediately stormed out from the room that they’re hiding to the information room at the opposite way.
Once they stop in front the room, sound of shooting follow by bomb explodes from far make the guarding armies around the room to leave their spot and run to the sound’s source to investigate. Only few more still stay there, but Sho manages to make them to go help the rest and let both him and Nino to guard there. The moment only him and Nino left, the hacker quickly takes out a small touch screen device and stick special wires on the password door lock. The data room supposed only can be open only if there’s electricity’s presence, but due of the combination of unlocking and small amount of generator’s device that Nino asks Ohno to make for him, the electric door finally has been unlock with a click sound. The hacker then looks at Sho beside him and nod.
“Let’s do this.”
After gripping tightly on the door handle, Sho then give a strong push to open the room. Soon, the latter resist it and give a space for Nino to enter the room immediately.
“How long it’ll take?”
He asks when Nino runs toward the only computer there which has several diskette and disc next to it. While connecting the computer with his laptop, Nino answers his friend without looking up.
“I don’t know how much we’re going to found in here so I can’t give exact answer. Let’s just hope it won’t take so much time.”
Sho nods, lifting the modify rifle to his chest. Soon, the room brightens by Nino’s laptop screen. Shooting sound still happen somewhere nearby there which make both guys to feel a bit calmer. Sight of no armies around as well make Sho who in charge on guarding the door to feel more relief.
“Hey Sho.”
Nino’s voice makes the other guy to look at him with his back still resisting the door.
“You need to see this.”
The hacker says with pair of serious eyes, making Sho to grab nearest small coffee table to hold the door for them. Later, he approaches the hacker and kneels down to see the screen.
“I found pages of journal wrote by a medical assistant who worked here 5 years ago. It’s hidden in certain file of this place system but maybe it contains any information we need about the government.”
“They put password so no one can access it?”
“No. Every computer in this place are connected with network room so the officers will know what they’re doing or accessing to. In this case this journal was saved in one of computers in this military’s place not this room, so I can’t transfer it.”
The two of them then stare the screen in silent. Sometimes Nino stop from scroll down the long journal when they catch words or sentence that attract their interest. Most of it however just mention about how he spent his day, stories about soldiers who come for his treatment and the situation outside the camp which he unfortunately only can watch through television internet.
“8th September 2008. Numbers of rebels were brought here. I’d seen in television before that these people stood up against the government’s Project Eternity. Most of them are Special Kids’ parents and families. They also threatened the government that they will expose the government’s dark secret if their wish didn’t be granted. They seem confident despite of Sakurai’s persuade to stop and refused to listen to his advice that they will put others in harm. I wonder what he meant by ‘others’ though. Maybe it has anything to do about the rumor in here that he maybe is investigating the government?”
However, starting from there the journal of the day turns out just about the writer’s grumble regarding how he misses his family in Nagano. Nino decides to just skip every short and unimportant page and almost scrolls down the screen till the end when Sho abruptly stops him.
“Wait. What is this?”
He points at something. Nino immediately makes the image larger and slightly frown, trying to read another day report which is much shorter than the previous.
“27th November 2008. A large white dog was seen again but this time by guard who was coming to my therapy today. He said that dog seemed was following a soldier who has nickname ‘killer’. I still remember that someone from research centre told me that he is one of the men who received more drug compare to the rest after the upper man notice he did not show the drug’s effect like others. This man is the one who dare to speak out most when it comes to Project Eternity and government already said to pay more attention with him. Now somehow I believe the dog is not just a build up rumor or the drug’s effect…”
“A large dog?”
Nino frowns as he turns to his friend beside.
“But it’s impossible for a dog to live in this place, don’t you think so?”
“Actually no.”
Sho look at him curiously and gain a serious one from his hacker friend immediately.
“Actually Aiba-chan told me before that he heard a bark when we’re sneaking inside government’s building.”
“But how? Why?”
Nino jus shakes his head.
“I also have no idea.”
Both guys startle when someone suddenly kicks the door open wider. They immediately look at the entrance, shock for a while when realize a soldier is standing in front it with rifle in his hand. Sho has no idea how he manage to make his body move as he clumsily reach for the same weapon in his hand and pull the trigger to fill the room with some hot white gas. Although that area currently in a completely pitch dark, it’s still not helping the two teenagers at all. Not only the gasmask that the soldiers are wearing will block sleeping gas from entering their sense, the temperature reading goggle which is covering their eyes as well will avoid them from escape. With the numbers of the gasmask armies coming there keep on increasing, Sho and Nino realize they have no more way to run. They’re totally trapped there. And once the gas disappear and the modify rifle in their grip out of its ‘bullet’, it’ll be the end for the two of them.
“Any idea?”
“I just think we should at least let the rest leave safely.”
Suddenly, they hear shooting sound come from not far from there. From the noise of glass break and men’s yelp, they know this time the shootings are real one and only can hope that their guess regarding it is not wrong. They know if Ohno, Aiba and Jun find out that the two of them are in this dead-alive situation, those three guys will have no hesitant to sacrifice their life in order to save them.
“BETRAYER!”
The last soldier at the entrance receives a shoot on his body before fall to the floor immediately. Nino meanwhile clumsily shove all of his stuff into his small bag on his hip and leg before get up and stumble with Sho till the back of the room when numbers of boot sounds are gradually coming closer. Both guys stop breathing unconsciously, preparing to receive any consequences they might face the moment a man in black uniform stand in front the door. Yet, they surprise when the army look at the direction he’s coming from before shout to someone else there.
“They’re safe!”
Both Sho and Nino frown at the same time. They immediately look at each other before hear the same man shout at them to come with him now. Of course the two guys get confuse by it but they have no chance to protest when the other one suddenly run toward them and grab for their arms, dragging the two best friends out from there a second later. They’re about to fight back but feel panic by the sight a group of soldier without gasmask are running toward them. Soon, the soldiers group circling them like human shields and make them to run with them toward east gate.
“We’re on your side. Don’t worry.”
Sho is about to stop his run upon it, but being drag by the man in front him.
“You guys have no time anymore. We will guard both of you and your friends to the exit and all of you must leave this area as fast as you guys can. Our numbers are really small so we can’t stop the rest from chase you guys for long.”
“Wait! How did you know about us?! Friends?!”
“We just met your friend in the electricity room. I think our allies managed to bring him to the gate already. Let’s hope your other two friends are still safe now.”
Sho and Nino want to ask more but they feel like their words suddenly stuck in their throat. These men suddenly volunteer to cover for them though they just meet each other? Even they don’t wear gasmask which mean they probably are not influenced with government’s drug, they’re still dangerous. However, the two guys know they have no choice but listen and believe.

At the other part of the military’s territory, Ohno and Aiba are running with all their might to escape from numbers of chasing armies behind them. Sometimes bullet fly toward them but fortunately none of it hit them and just break anything around there. Though Aiba know from earlier that his job to attract soldiers who guarding around data room will expose him to the chance of becoming the target, he never thought it will turn out that dangerous for him and Ohno.
Suddenly, Ohno grab his wrist and pull him to their right.
“Let’s hide there.”
Both panting guys run toward a dark building nearby and hide behind it. Thankfully, those armies who are looking for them keep on running ahead without noticing their existence there. As both guys struggle to catch their breath again, they lean on the wall behind them.
“I can’t imagine you’re doing this alone if we didn’t need to fellow the group before.”
“But if we didn’t receive that order this plan might flow smoothly. If the communication system damage and power outage happen at the same time before the military would be in more serious chaos for a while and…the number who looking for me wouldn’t be that many.”
Aiba then shoves the small loudspeaker that he used to attract soldiers’ attention back into his pouch. Sound like real shooting and explosion back then was actually come from it. He also used smoke bomb for the purpose to make the situation like more realistic like Sho told him and to cover him when he wanted to escape, but it failed when the numbers of soldiers were unexpectedly more than any of them can predict.
“I wonder how Jun managed to cut the electricity alone.”
Ohno exhale from his mouth. Aiba on the other hand gets up and sigh heavily. Later, he remembers something and clumsily take out the black device that make him almost been scolded in the truck before.
“What is this?”
The mechanic frowns when his cheerful friend gives it to them.
“I found it inside the government’s building earlier. I want to ask you what is it used for but since we’re coincidentally come here today I think I should return it. It’s not my property after all.”
“We almost lost our life because of them and you still can think that way? Are you serious Aiba-chan?”
Ohno sighs when the other one nods. He slowly gets up from the ground as well before unknowingly approach a manhole not far from there.
“This device is actually not something important.”
“What is it?”
A ‘click’ sound suddenly comes from behind him.
Both Ohno and Aiba immediately freeze for a while. The moment Ohno turns around to see his friend, he feel like his heart suddenly stops beating.
“Hands up NOW.”
Aiba follow the order obediently. His friend who is standing not far from there only can clench his fist. Just if he doesn’t leave his rifle on the ground before, maybe he can do something to help his friends now.
“Kneel down.”
“I will, but-”
“KNEEL DOWN!”
A strong blow hit Aiba’s back head when the soldier uses his rifle to force the cheerful guy to follow him. Seeing his friend painfully fall to the ground, Ohno immediately runs forward to help the other without paying attention with the soldier’s warn at him. The soldier above him almost aim his weapon to the approaching Ohno before Aiba suddenly turns around and hold his leg, hardly bite the latter’s shin a moment later. He almost receives another knock by the daring act but Ohno manages to grip on the soldier’s arms strongly to stop it.
Both guys then struggle to save each other by doing anything they can. However, the gasmask soldier is much stronger. Finally loss all his resistance, he kick Aiba’s head hardly before push Ohno with all might. The two guys yelp in pain as soon as their body landing on ground. At the same time, the black device in Ohno’s hand drop to under him.
“RUN!”
Ohno quickly push himself with his elbow upon the shout and found Aiba is struggling to push the soldier’s rifle away from aiming him. When the soldier almost pull his trigger toward Aiba, Ohno panicky get up and totally ignore the black device that he just step on the ground. Though Aiba screams till the top of his lungs for the friend to just ignore him, Ohno still keeps on running toward him before the three of them startle by a loud, long dog’s howl which sound so close yet far from there.
At first Ohno choose to ignore it and just hurry up to help his friend, yet he couldn’t help but stop when the howl suddenly change with angry bark. Even Aiba and the soldier freeze confusedly by it.
‘What was it-’
The memory of the black device Aiba gives him before enter his mind. Clumsily, Ohno look for the thing again and found it lying on the ground behind. His eyes change to a disbelief one immediately.
‘It’s…indeed a dog calling device.’
“What’s that sound?!”
A last angry bark suddenly comes from somewhere enclosed.
Suddenly, the manhole cover detached from its place as something big and furry jump out from inside it. A huge dirty Alaskan Malamute dog landed few meters in front them a second later, sending the three men shock and speechless by the creature which is staring them full with anger and hate.

Ohno wakes up from his thought upon the sudden shout. He immediately looks at the Alpha team leader in front him. The five of them safely sneak among those men about half minute ago and thankfully their disguise still not busted at all.
“I said; WHO DROP THIS?!”
The team leader shouts startling the military’s truck one more time along with newly married couple and parents with their two kids who they just caught while ago. While lifting his hand in front his face to show a black device that he perhaps found on the truck’s floor, he keep on nagging about how careless whoever person who drop it considering that they’re an elite soldier.
“I COUNT TILL 3 OR-”
“Ah!”
Aiba’s sudden realization word makes all eyes there to lock at him. Quickly, the cheerful guy lifts his hand while apologizing, as well as admitting the device belongs to him. Fortunately the Alpha’s leader only warns and returns it without giving any punishment or the other four guys don’t know what their cheerful friend is going to face later.
“Satoshi?”
Sho’s small whispers beside him makes Ohno to hum softly as response with neither of them turn to look each other face.
“Are you sure Mr. Hatsuyuki wouldn’t realize about the change you did to his mini satellite? Masaki left a letter on his nightstand about what we’re doing so if he wakes up any moment-”
“Jun already told us that the medicine he gave to him can make him fall asleep for hours. So I believe he won’t in any close moment. Plus, I didn’t change anything. I just ‘add’ something on it but I’d make sure to not put it on obvious place. Even before we left I just switch on the satellite and set its automatic function to work.”
He hears Sho sighing behind the gasmask the latter wear.
“You trust us right? Everything is going to be alright.”
“Of course I do trust you guys, but it’s about Hatsuyuki-san.”
“He won’t do anything unnecessary. He knows it’s already too late to stop us. Even if he wakes up now he wouldn’t have any choice but wait or he know he might put our life in danger.”
“But…do you remember about his family’s photo?”
Ohno finally slightly turns to the guy beside him.
“It has thick dust on every inch of its surface including the photo’s glass.”
“Well, it’s because he couldn’t touch it right? It has a memory of his family after all.”
“But the photo was facing down. If he didn’t touch it for a long time there’s no way any single dust will stick on the glass. I felt weird since the first time I saw it but only recently I finally get what was not right about the photo.”
They feel the truck bump on something before slow down to somewhere.
“I think he hides something from us.”
Ohno blinks by the statement.
A minute later, the vehicle finally stop and the team leader tell them to not off guard with the criminals. As soon as they get off, the five guys stun for a second by the numbers of soldiers are gathering on assembly site not far from the dropping criminals’ point who maybe get ready for certain mission while some numerous more are on their night’s duty.
Now, they finally know what Mr. Hatsuyuki meant by they’re not prepared enough. The place has a completely high security level which the danger beyond anything they can imagine. But it’s already too late to turn back.
“Five of you. Take them to cell.”
Three of the soldiers who receive the order nod instantly before make their move to the victims. Ohno and Aiba at the same time freeze and look at each other, never expect that kind of thing will happen before.
“Hey, hurry up.”
One of the three gasmask men who were told to go with them suddenly said. The two teens are now in dilemma. Any small step which not flow same with Sho’s earlier plan might lead to big failure from this point. However, both guys know they have no choice.
“We’re coming.”
Aiba make an almost unnoticeable gesture to his friend before the two of them lift their rifle to in front their chest and follow the other three armies, making a small circle around the chained ‘criminals’. Sho, Nino and Jun on the other hand stuck on ground by the unexpected situation. Seeing the other Alpha’s members move to somewhere else, Jun nod to his two friends immediately before make his way from there to look for the power room as careful and as silent as he can. Sho and Nino meanwhile look at each other, giving a slight nod before follow the small group in front them.

After through an empty long corridor, pass by number of concrete buildings and several semi-size tents, Jun finally found the door which he remembers clearly is the electricity control’s room based on the map they’re analyzing since days ago. If they go along with Mr. Hatsuyuki’s plan he will suppose to come to air holes space or tank gas filling room, but Sho comes out with different idea. Instead of make the entire base pass out, the latter decide to just knock off certain people who guarding at certain place. Perhaps that way is same like they’re gambling their life, but it’s for the safety of the victims that the military already capture since they have no idea in what kind of circumstances those poor people are locked in now.
The moment the chemist hides behind empty tent which just six feet from the room, he look at the military’s digital watch on his wrist.
‘1.25 pm. 15 minutes more from the exact plan.’
He takes a quick deep breath before lift his gaze. In several more minutes Mr. Hatsuyuki’s mini satellite will disturb the base’s communication. Now he only can hopes Ohno to come there as soon as possible since they’re pairing up to sneak in there- Jun to put those men in unconscious state while Ohno will cut the electricity supply as well as disabling dozens of security camera to the information room that Sho and Nino will head to.
Soon, he hears footsteps approaching from behind. The teen almost panic when realize it is the arrogant General Officer who he and his friend just meet nights ago with his right man, walking while talking about something to the place he currently standing at. After glance to his surrounding, Jun finally choose to pretend to be one of night duty men.
“Good evening sir.”
He salutes the high-rank man as soon as the distance between him and the two men are close enough. Jun feel so incredibly worry when seeing both men suddenly stop and look at him, but finally nod and get inside the discussing tent that he’s coincidently use to hide. Jun then look at his watch again, sighing when find out there’s 10 minutes left.
“So you didn’t catch them sir?”
Sound of two chairs being pulled out from under desk follow by the right man’s question. Jun who catch it by chance silently listen to their further conversation.
“I can’t. That bastard Hatsuyuki was backing them up. We’re fated to be enemy till forever indeed.”
“Eh? Why was he there?”
“I don’t know. I heard from somewhere he’s living around there. That man always against every order and opinion I gave and now he’s helping those kids. How come such an arrogant professor received more appreciation and praises than us from ministry? Without us he’ll never had any chance to do his whatever ‘for sake of Japan’ research till now.”
Their words surprise Jun.
‘They didn’t know about the satellite? So Mr. Hatsuyuki did it without the government’s knowledge?’
“Sir, there’s something I always want to know. Did Hatsuyuki involve with Project Eternity? Cause as much as I know only special kids and government knew about it right? But he’s only a technology researcher.”
The General Officer replies it with a snort.
“I bet he didn’t. That’s why he tries really hard to find where ‘that’ was hidden to gain Mr. Prime Minister’s trust. Though I doubt ‘that’ is actually exist. That man was just a normal policeman. It’s too obvious.”
“The government seems so desperate till the level they arrest his son and friends.”
His words make Jun speechless.
‘They’re talking about us.’
All of sudden, the military’s base echoes with a very loud siren sound. Jun then found the entire soldiers around there immediately go to wherever they’re ordered to take care of when they’re having simulations. Both high-rank men inside the tent meanwhile stop talking and calmly come out. At first they ask Jun what happen but seeing the man doesn’t bring walkie-talkie with him, the right man take out his. However, the three men include Jun surprise when realize another thing.
“This can’t function.”
“What the-wait. System hijacking?”
Hit by realization, the chemist immediately shoves his hand into pouch on his hip. Before the General Officer and his assistant manage to give him any order, he quickly spray them with his sleeping mixture, making both men fall asleep to the ground under them just a second later. Then, he looks at his watch again.
“Already 1.41.”
He sighs worriedly when he still can’t see Ohno’s glimpse anywhere.
‘Seem I don’t have any choice.’
As fast as his feet can take him, the teen then run toward the electricity room. He knocks it twice while shouting emergency case is happening before hear rushing footsteps is coming closer and hurriedly step away from the doorway. After make sure where every security cameras around there has been place, he takes a deep breath and lift his rifle above his head’s level, ready to knock anyone who will come out from the door. Jun know he will definitely busted after this but either way he at least must make sure Sho and Nino can get inside the data information room. The moment he just about to hit whoever person that shows up from the open door, another unexpected thing happens.
Everything suddenly switches to dark.

“I guess it’s the time.”
Nino whisper to Sho beside him when both communication system hang and power outage occur. They couldn’t move so freely around there before due of numerous cameras presence which only can be stop if power cut happen. Relying only to their infrared goggle to observe their surrounding, both guys immediately stormed out from the room that they’re hiding to the information room at the opposite way.
Once they stop in front the room, sound of shooting follow by bomb explodes from far make the guarding armies around the room to leave their spot and run to the sound’s source to investigate. Only few more still stay there, but Sho manages to make them to go help the rest and let both him and Nino to guard there. The moment only him and Nino left, the hacker quickly takes out a small touch screen device and stick special wires on the password door lock. The data room supposed only can be open only if there’s electricity’s presence, but due of the combination of unlocking and small amount of generator’s device that Nino asks Ohno to make for him, the electric door finally has been unlock with a click sound. The hacker then looks at Sho beside him and nod.
“Let’s do this.”
After gripping tightly on the door handle, Sho then give a strong push to open the room. Soon, the latter resist it and give a space for Nino to enter the room immediately.
“How long it’ll take?”
He asks when Nino runs toward the only computer there which has several diskette and disc next to it. While connecting the computer with his laptop, Nino answers his friend without looking up.
“I don’t know how much we’re going to found in here so I can’t give exact answer. Let’s just hope it won’t take so much time.”
Sho nods, lifting the modify rifle to his chest. Soon, the room brightens by Nino’s laptop screen. Shooting sound still happen somewhere nearby there which make both guys to feel a bit calmer. Sight of no armies around as well make Sho who in charge on guarding the door to feel more relief.
“Hey Sho.”
Nino’s voice makes the other guy to look at him with his back still resisting the door.
“You need to see this.”
The hacker says with pair of serious eyes, making Sho to grab nearest small coffee table to hold the door for them. Later, he approaches the hacker and kneels down to see the screen.
“I found pages of journal wrote by a medical assistant who worked here 5 years ago. It’s hidden in certain file of this place system but maybe it contains any information we need about the government.”
“They put password so no one can access it?”
“No. Every computer in this place are connected with network room so the officers will know what they’re doing or accessing to. In this case this journal was saved in one of computers in this military’s place not this room, so I can’t transfer it.”
The two of them then stare the screen in silent. Sometimes Nino stop from scroll down the long journal when they catch words or sentence that attract their interest. Most of it however just mention about how he spent his day, stories about soldiers who come for his treatment and the situation outside the camp which he unfortunately only can watch through television internet.
“8th September 2008. Numbers of rebels were brought here. I’d seen in television before that these people stood up against the government’s Project Eternity. Most of them are Special Kids’ parents and families. They also threatened the government that they will expose the government’s dark secret if their wish didn’t be granted. They seem confident despite of Sakurai’s persuade to stop and refused to listen to his advice that they will put others in harm. I wonder what he meant by ‘others’ though. Maybe it has anything to do about the rumor in here that he maybe is investigating the government?”
However, starting from there the journal of the day turns out just about the writer’s grumble regarding how he misses his family in Nagano. Nino decides to just skip every short and unimportant page and almost scrolls down the screen till the end when Sho abruptly stops him.
“Wait. What is this?”
He points at something. Nino immediately makes the image larger and slightly frown, trying to read another day report which is much shorter than the previous.
“27th November 2008. A large white dog was seen again but this time by guard who was coming to my therapy today. He said that dog seemed was following a soldier who has nickname ‘killer’. I still remember that someone from research centre told me that he is one of the men who received more drug compare to the rest after the upper man notice he did not show the drug’s effect like others. This man is the one who dare to speak out most when it comes to Project Eternity and government already said to pay more attention with him. Now somehow I believe the dog is not just a build up rumor or the drug’s effect…”
“A large dog?”
Nino frowns as he turns to his friend beside.
“But it’s impossible for a dog to live in this place, don’t you think so?”
“Actually no.”
Sho look at him curiously and gain a serious one from his hacker friend immediately.
“Actually Aiba-chan told me before that he heard a bark when we’re sneaking inside government’s building.”
“But how? Why?”
Nino jus shakes his head.
“I also have no idea.”
Both guys startle when someone suddenly kicks the door open wider. They immediately look at the entrance, shock for a while when realize a soldier is standing in front it with rifle in his hand. Sho has no idea how he manage to make his body move as he clumsily reach for the same weapon in his hand and pull the trigger to fill the room with some hot white gas. Although that area currently in a completely pitch dark, it’s still not helping the two teenagers at all. Not only the gasmask that the soldiers are wearing will block sleeping gas from entering their sense, the temperature reading goggle which is covering their eyes as well will avoid them from escape. With the numbers of the gasmask armies coming there keep on increasing, Sho and Nino realize they have no more way to run. They’re totally trapped there. And once the gas disappear and the modify rifle in their grip out of its ‘bullet’, it’ll be the end for the two of them.
“Any idea?”
“I just think we should at least let the rest leave safely.”
Suddenly, they hear shooting sound come from not far from there. From the noise of glass break and men’s yelp, they know this time the shootings are real one and only can hope that their guess regarding it is not wrong. They know if Ohno, Aiba and Jun find out that the two of them are in this dead-alive situation, those three guys will have no hesitant to sacrifice their life in order to save them.
“BETRAYER!”
The last soldier at the entrance receives a shoot on his body before fall to the floor immediately. Nino meanwhile clumsily shove all of his stuff into his small bag on his hip and leg before get up and stumble with Sho till the back of the room when numbers of boot sounds are gradually coming closer. Both guys stop breathing unconsciously, preparing to receive any consequences they might face the moment a man in black uniform stand in front the door. Yet, they surprise when the army look at the direction he’s coming from before shout to someone else there.
“They’re safe!”
Both Sho and Nino frown at the same time. They immediately look at each other before hear the same man shout at them to come with him now. Of course the two guys get confuse by it but they have no chance to protest when the other one suddenly run toward them and grab for their arms, dragging the two best friends out from there a second later. They’re about to fight back but feel panic by the sight a group of soldier without gasmask are running toward them. Soon, the soldiers group circling them like human shields and make them to run with them toward east gate.
“We’re on your side. Don’t worry.”
Sho is about to stop his run upon it, but being drag by the man in front him.
“You guys have no time anymore. We will guard both of you and your friends to the exit and all of you must leave this area as fast as you guys can. Our numbers are really small so we can’t stop the rest from chase you guys for long.”
“Wait! How did you know about us?! Friends?!”
“We just met your friend in the electricity room. I think our allies managed to bring him to the gate already. Let’s hope your other two friends are still safe now.”
Sho and Nino want to ask more but they feel like their words suddenly stuck in their throat. These men suddenly volunteer to cover for them though they just meet each other? Even they don’t wear gasmask which mean they probably are not influenced with government’s drug, they’re still dangerous. However, the two guys know they have no choice but listen and believe.

At the other part of the military’s territory, Ohno and Aiba are running with all their might to escape from numbers of chasing armies behind them. Sometimes bullet fly toward them but fortunately none of it hit them and just break anything around there. Though Aiba know from earlier that his job to attract soldiers who guarding around data room will expose him to the chance of becoming the target, he never thought it will turn out that dangerous for him and Ohno.
Suddenly, Ohno grab his wrist and pull him to their right.
“Let’s hide there.”
Both panting guys run toward a dark building nearby and hide behind it. Thankfully, those armies who are looking for them keep on running ahead without noticing their existence there. As both guys struggle to catch their breath again, they lean on the wall behind them.
“I can’t imagine you’re doing this alone if we didn’t need to fellow the group before.”
“But if we didn’t receive that order this plan might flow smoothly. If the communication system damage and power outage happen at the same time before the military would be in more serious chaos for a while and…the number who looking for me wouldn’t be that many.”
Aiba then shoves the small loudspeaker that he used to attract soldiers’ attention back into his pouch. Sound like real shooting and explosion back then was actually come from it. He also used smoke bomb for the purpose to make the situation like more realistic like Sho told him and to cover him when he wanted to escape, but it failed when the numbers of soldiers were unexpectedly more than any of them can predict.
“I wonder how Jun managed to cut the electricity alone.”
Ohno exhale from his mouth. Aiba on the other hand gets up and sigh heavily. Later, he remembers something and clumsily take out the black device that make him almost been scolded in the truck before.
“What is this?”
The mechanic frowns when his cheerful friend gives it to them.
“I found it inside the government’s building earlier. I want to ask you what is it used for but since we’re coincidentally come here today I think I should return it. It’s not my property after all.”
“We almost lost our life because of them and you still can think that way? Are you serious Aiba-chan?”
Ohno sighs when the other one nods. He slowly gets up from the ground as well before unknowingly approach a manhole not far from there.
“This device is actually not something important.”
“What is it?”
A ‘click’ sound suddenly comes from behind him.
Both Ohno and Aiba immediately freeze for a while. The moment Ohno turns around to see his friend, he feel like his heart suddenly stops beating.
“Hands up NOW.”
Aiba follow the order obediently. His friend who is standing not far from there only can clench his fist. Just if he doesn’t leave his rifle on the ground before, maybe he can do something to help his friends now.
“Kneel down.”
“I will, but-”
“KNEEL DOWN!”
A strong blow hit Aiba’s back head when the soldier uses his rifle to force the cheerful guy to follow him. Seeing his friend painfully fall to the ground, Ohno immediately runs forward to help the other without paying attention with the soldier’s warn at him. The soldier above him almost aim his weapon to the approaching Ohno before Aiba suddenly turns around and hold his leg, hardly bite the latter’s shin a moment later. He almost receives another knock by the daring act but Ohno manages to grip on the soldier’s arms strongly to stop it.
Both guys then struggle to save each other by doing anything they can. However, the gasmask soldier is much stronger. Finally loss all his resistance, he kick Aiba’s head hardly before push Ohno with all might. The two guys yelp in pain as soon as their body landing on ground. At the same time, the black device in Ohno’s hand drop to under him.
“RUN!”
Ohno quickly push himself with his elbow upon the shout and found Aiba is struggling to push the soldier’s rifle away from aiming him. When the soldier almost pull his trigger toward Aiba, Ohno panicky get up and totally ignore the black device that he just step on the ground. Though Aiba screams till the top of his lungs for the friend to just ignore him, Ohno still keeps on running toward him before the three of them startle by a loud, long dog’s howl which sound so close yet far from there.
At first Ohno choose to ignore it and just hurry up to help his friend, yet he couldn’t help but stop when the howl suddenly change with angry bark. Even Aiba and the soldier freeze confusedly by it.
‘What was it-’
The memory of the black device Aiba gives him before enter his mind. Clumsily, Ohno look for the thing again and found it lying on the ground behind. His eyes change to a disbelief one immediately.
‘It’s…indeed a dog calling device.’
“What’s that sound?!”
A last angry bark suddenly comes from somewhere enclosed.
Suddenly, the manhole cover detached from its place as something big and furry jump out from inside it. A huge dirty Alaskan Malamute dog landed few meters in front them a second later, sending the three men shock and speechless by the creature which is staring them full with anger and hate.
