It's Destructive

Hey guys, I haven't written any fanfic in such a long time, but the whole Jack/Tony conflict this season has been clawing at my insides, and something has just been dying to get out. I finally wrote a quick bit tonight, based on tonight's episode. It really isn't much. I just wanted to bounce my ideas off some people, so let me know what you think!

How did things turn out this way?

This is my friend, my brother. This is the man I worked and fought beside, the man who died in my arms.

Now he's back; he hadn't stayed dead at all. He told me he had abandoned all hope for redemption, and that he had joined up with the wrong side. He forgot everything we had worked for, all the years we had spent in faithful service to this country.

But now he was ready to come back, he said. He looked into my eyes and swore he would help expose the men behind today's attacks. I felt the heat from his hand, gripping my arm, heard the words from his mouth. I watched as he walked away, now officially working for us again. Working with me. Back to the way it should be.

My friend, where did I go wrong? What didn't I see? Did I mistake the gleam in your eye, the conviction in your voice, as sentiments for our side?

No one fools me. I've built my life and my career by seeing through people's lies. But now all I see is you.

You, and the gun I'm pressing against your forehead.

How did it come to this?
