Ehe!~ I got a new layout! Do you like Hetalia Axis Powers? I sure do! It's one of my absolute favorites! I've actually learned a lot from it, in an unorthodox sort of way. The author knows how to convey history in order to appeal to the drooling filthy fujoshi, like myself :D What better way to explain that Austria and Hungary were once Austria-Hungary then to have them be married? What better way to convey the relationship between North Italy and Germany in WWII then to have them be in a relationship type deal? It appeals to the side of us that wants to personify everything. And to be honest, countries have more meaning to me now. I have a great deal of love for my own country now because America is my favorite country in Hetalia. The artist perfectly captured that pompous yet genuinelly heroic personality that we're known for. I now embrace my homeland with a pride that I didn't have when I didn't have one central figure to show me how truly foolish, and hilarious we are :D Events that happen in the world take on a whole new meaning. When the earthquakes destroyed part of Italy, all I could think of were Feliciano and Lovino, both lively and vigorous countries (especially Feliciano :D) broken down and hurt. When I think of World War II, I picture the tired England, Poland the vallygirl, pained and supressed, and Germany, racked with guilt but unable to do anything but follow orders. I like Hetalia because it allows us to channel the feelings of an entire nation into one person. They carry the weight of millions of people's thoughts and emotions. It also shows us the feelings of the countries during certain situations, and teaches us humility. Consider the Revolutionary War. Those who were involved saw nothing but a tyrannical country trying to take away their freedom. But Hetalia interprets it as a guardian or father who is unwilling to let go and let his son leave the nest. It's kind of beautiful and sad, and I think if you picture wars and events with a more human approach, you find new meaning in it. Get it?
Anyways, its the football loving countries (hmmm, notice America and Japan's absense *baseball freaks*) playing playing playing. When are they gonna throw in Mexico, America's energetic next door neighbor who comes by and freeloads off him all the time? And Brazil, the female samba freak with a couple of footballs of her own attached to her chest? Get to it Himaruya! xD
