Vid Rec: Welcome to London

Title: Welcome to London
Music Title & Artist: the vidder does not actually identify them, but I think perhaps this is the "Welcome to London" music from the soundtrack of the BBC show itself, composed by David Arnold and Michael Price
Vidder: Indrikhole
Pairing or Character: Greg Lestrade
Verse: Sherlock BBC
Link: Welcome to London vid, at AO3

Reccer's Comments: This is basically a vid that shows you what it would be like if the BBC show were constructed around Lestrade rather than Sherlock himself. The vidder has very cleverly combined key scenes from the show with footage from Rupert Graves's other projects, carefully selected BBC dialogue, and the show's many rich images of London. The vidder has also used a shaky, echoing effect in both images and sounds to create a sense of exhaustion and of foundations shifting beneath one's feet. The result is this lovely, melancholy, atmospheric glimpse into the life of a man who is being beaten down and overwhelmed by the problems of his city, his family, and his own soul, but who keeps going out to face all of those battles time and again. The vid leads up to the Reichenbach crisis, but keeps its focus on Lestrade's experience.

A wonderful piece of work, and a reminder that this show is so lucky to have Rupert Graves in this role.
