Reccer's comments:You don't need to know the fusion material (I don't) to enjoy this fic. The writing is beautiful, and the imagery stunning. The authors writing is sparse, but full, no more is needed, and the whole thing seems so quiet, and dreamy. I want to bottle the feeling it gives me and carry it around with me.
Lines like this: Kate knocks back her glass, and goes soft on the inside at the way Irene tips her head a little when she looks at Kate, as though Kate is a secret she found somewhere. just make me ache. The pining is so well done. Irene is so strong here as well: Irene's mouth clenches. Her jaw, square and sharp. Kate can't finish her sentence, because it's impossible, and so are they.
The whole thing is very bittersweet, but well worth the read.
