Just watched Carey Grant mince his way out of any shred of romance in the "romantic thriller" North by Northwest. Fine, mediocre film. Startling for its day, with sex and all. But now.. tame. Flaccid.
And why do they call it North by Northwest? Sure, that's the direction they travelled... but do you see films called "Circumnavigation" or "Stay right in the same place."? No. No, you don't.
