The National Coming Out Day luncheon was a fine time indeed. A better success, I think, than the District 202 event. Here I was seen by many, talked to quite a few, impressed at least one OutFronter, and got to know the new Communications Director. Lots of folk assumed I worked for the org... I laughed it off and said something to the effect of "I aspire"...

My 30 second spiel didn't work out like I intended. I think I have to understand that it'll be more of a ping-pong conversational thing, where I prompt them ("I just got back from overseas") and then I respond to their comment with further info and further prompts. I still founder when they ask me what I "do".

Otherwise, great. The speeches were mildly cool -- the last one showed a video (made by the Washington Post?) of her wedding. It really got the crowd excited. The words "we got married" just don't pack the same punch as seeing a lesbian couple holding hands and answering "of course I do" when asked those same, ceremonial questions. It's another coat of cement over my commitment to marry phramok

The weather outside is cinematically autumn. Leaves fly in all directions -- horizontal, vertical up and vertical down, and all sorts of swirly spirals inbetween. In Mpls, they're mostly yellow but that just makes the odd red foliage all the more special. And all the leaves cover up (most of) the litter in the park. Go Nature!
