I have these neighbors, two thirty something women, who have lived next door for probably 3 or 4 years now and I've never interacted with. Today I found out they volunteer for some adopt a pet program and act as a foster family for puppies, which means they have puppies at their house all the time! I'm going to make these women my new best friends. Tonight they came over to talk to my dad and brought an 8 week old puppy with them. I don't turn to mush for much, but puppies are just about my favorite thing in the whole world. Now that I know there is a constant flow of puppies just feet from my very own home...well, it's very exciting. I just have to get in tight with those women. I used to think they were lesbians, but I'm not so sure anymore. I think one of them has the hots for my dad. My dad, a fifty something small town fellow who doesn't quite yet grasp the concept of sistas doing it for themselves, feels bad for these two women living alone without any men to take care of them, so he snow blows out their driveway in the winter, hauls away stray branches after storms, etc etc. Both women are appreciative, but one is more expressive. Today she brought my dad some sweet corn for no particular reason. It's probably just neighborly niceness, but I prefer to think this woman is after my dad. It's oh so very Desperate Housewives.
I cut out of work today. My ankle is killing me, and as far as my doctor knows, I'm not going to work anyway. My mom has been hassling me about complaining too much (even though I've seen her for a total of about 2 hours in the past week, but whatever) and today I told her to take a look at my injury and see why I've been moving slow and, okay, whining a little bit. It pretty much horrified her. And at this point, it's actually looking better! Basically, at first the whole left side of my ankle, up my leg an inch or two, and to the middle of my foot was black and blue. My ankle was swollen almost twice the normal size, there was a huge swelling by the bone on the left side, and my toes were as fat as my fingers. The swelling is down considerably, and the bruising is starting to turn that disgusting yellow shade, but it still doesn't look normal. And that was way more than you probably wanted to know. Anyway, Dayna covered for me today. I didn't realize I also have tomorrow and Wednesday off and took the whole weekend off for Dana's bachellorette party trip. Looks like I'm gonna keep being a broke ass for awhile.
I had a whole other rant for which I created this entry, but I got way off track. I guess it will wait for tomorrow. Not like I'll have anything better to do.
