the new Sarah Mclachlan CD comes out tomorrow...I do want to rush out and get it, but I feel like I should be somewhat responsible with all of the money I'm spending in the upcoming week. It's been so long since there has been new sarah though...I remember the first time I heard her...the cassette tape I bought...the time I listened to her entire album on my walkman in my friend's grandparent's house in Wilmington, NC....we slept in this loft for a week during the summer...I had the bed that was situated directly under the skylight and in the morning I would wake to the sun streaming down on my face...so I remember waking up one morning to the warmth of the sun, listening to Sarah and writing in my journal...that memory just made me smile :)
This was a pretty great Monday. I was in a warehouse most of the day working on Buzz Lightyear stuff. Life's good when you get to work with little green monsters with three eyes...I can't complain. I also can't complain working in a warehouse by the airport where I get to watch airplanes take off....
So I went to the aunt and uncle's tonight to tell them that I won't be going to their place for Thanksgiving. I could stand to avoid the "day of carbs" - but I will miss the leftovers. Thanksgiving has never really been a big tradition in my family. I mean, my mom's food always rocked - but it was always just mom, dad, my sister and I...then my sister would bail from time to time...we were in college...and now I'm 3000 miles away. I do have family here - but the idea of taking advantage of the LONG weekend to road trip up the coast to San Francisco with three other girls from back east sounds like a blast to me. So I decided that's what my Thanksgiving will be :) There's plenty of time for turkey later in life - right now, I'm livin' it up :)
I love my aunt and uncle though...they took me in when I moved out here to California and now they are just...well, comfort. We ate yummy comfort food tonight...meatloaf, mashed potatoes, spinach...and then we had tea...and sat by the fire...
It's nice to be smiling on a monday...
