Today was Jenni's birthday! It also happened to be the second Richter City Shakedown of the year, which was just damn perfect. Jenni made herself a giant castle-shaped cake, its courtyard packed with little gingerbread men. We took it and a truly gratuitous amount of food down to the pagoda by the duck pond, and enjoyed all the warm spring sunshine. And daffodils! And trees budding, or in one particularly awesome case, bare of anything except for huge magnolia-like blossoms on its topmost branches. Then we came home, and spent the pre-derby hours watching Boston Legal, painting a banner to support Brutal Pageant (I drew the centre picture!) and making two litres of chili for John.
We managed front-row seats again, and hung our giant awesome banner over the railings. And not only did our team win, I even got a free Calico Jack's t-shirt! (I also bought the set of their three awesome, colourful posters, including the one for next month's bout.) Then we came home to eat more cake and skate around the cul-de-sac while listening to Glee songs. And that's how to spend a birthday. :D
