1. Apparently the managers of Everton Hall discovered asbestos in the textured ceilings of our place, so we have to pack up and move to another block of flats. On Sunday. We got notice this afternoon. At least they're not expecting us to do the whole scrub-the-flat-from-top-to-bottom thing before we go. That doesn't remove the worry about how expensive it's going to be to reinstall the internet, since Telecom have a monopoly on this area and they are completely evil and so stingy they would not piss on you were you afire.
2. My computer went badly on the fritz this morning, on a constant and apparently unbreakable cycle of crashing and restarting. Unplugging and waiting for a while to restart it has had no effect, so tomorrow I'm taking it to the campus shop. Again, I say: extended warrenty? Best $99 ever spent.
3. I did not get into the last, limited-entry Film course, which means I will not be graduating this semester, or possibly even this year. One course is all that stands between me and my shiny double BA, and that was it.
On the bright side: my new room in the new flat might get more sunshine than my current room (and by more, I mean any at all), and since Everton has sworn to refund $70 out of our rent for the inconvenience, I might ask the computer guy about upgrading my RAM while I'm there. As for the Film thing... well, I was thinking of doing another degree after this one, in a different field, so I'm filling the gap with a 100-level computer science course, just to see if I can hack it. If yes, I'll probably work for a year or two to save up the money, and then try for a degree in it. If not, Classics.
It's not scattered focus; it's just a very comprehensive back-up plan.
