I never miss a chance to plug my favorite knitting book of all time, Victorian Lace Today. I know the name makes it sound a bit stodgy and uptight, but it's really an amazing book, filled both with amazing patterns for lace shawls (and some other garments, but really it's quite a lot of shawls) and fascinating stuff about knitting history. If you've had a bit of experience with lace knitting, this book offers a lot of interesting patterns to choose from, ranging from pretty simple to outrageously complex.
Oh whoa, I didn't even look at the price-- it *definitely* shouldn't be $100. I believe when I bought it, it cost about $30. I know for sure they have it at Border's, so it's probably worth checking there.
