a sweater

...I believe I have gotten someone else's gift. There is no way that this sweater will remotely fit me. I hate to be an Indian Giver, but I might be giving it to someone who needs it that can actually fit into it. Waste not, want not. Such a gift should not go to waste.

It seemed like a rather nice sweater, so it's a pity that it doesn't fit you. Though admittedly, it's not something that I could say I'd imagine you wearing as I'd never consider you much of the floral pastel-wearing type. Even if the thought of you in such clothing is an incredibly humorous notion. But then, I can't really think of too many people who would be fond of wearing something like that. So I'm not sure why the gift-giver chose something like it to offer when they were unsure of who would even receive it.

I might donate it. I can't use it and I think there's someone out there that needs a sweater.

In that case, I'm sure someone will appreciate your philanthropic efforts.

I have heard of this new fangled thing called "EBay" and that there are rubes out there that actually want sweaters of this nature. If I cannot donate it, I will try there.

If by new fangled you mean "close to 20 years old", but I know the passage of time works a bit differently for you. Though yes, it would be a good place to try and find someone who would take it and you're more likely to find someone who will be happy with getting it that was also.

It's that old? I just found it this year.

Though there's a person here that seems to want it. I might just give it to them

Yes, it's that old. Though I guess it didn't really gain real prominence until the past 10 years. But either way, older than you think.

So it would seem. If the sweater is indeed a stolen regifted present, then it should definitely go back to the one that originally owned it. And even if that isn't the case...well, it's still someone taking it off your hands, so you're still getting rid of it like you're wanting.

They can have it. I can't fit it so it's a waste for me to keep it.
