History:
Man of Many Faces,
Clamp Campus Detectives In a world dominated by technology a cat burglar became a pain for the law forces. Known as "20 masks", it's unknown for how long this thief has existed but it has been under search and capture for several years. He was known for his great stealth and punctuality, always announcing his robberies before commiting them and always evading the police, no matter how many measurements they had taken to avoid him to run away. Every single time "20 Masks" would raise victorous, the stolen object in his posession and the police defeated, unable to capture him, and so, the legend of "20 Masks" went on.
Born in December's Christmas Eve, Akira Ijyuin took his first breath in the world in the city of Tokyo. Shortly after his birth his father went missing, it's as of yet unknown where he is or why he left, much less if even he's alive though his family considers he's fine, the only thing clear is that the man left as heritance to his son the title of "20 Masks" for he was the infamous cat burglar during years. Despite his father's absence though, Akira was never prived of any amount of love as he was gifted with an unusual situation: instead of having one mother, Akira had two. As identical twins that both considered his father their husband and him their son, Akira was never able to learn which one of them actually gave birth to him but he never really cared, as both of them loved and raised him. As the family he knew and the one he cared for, Akira never bothered with the differences between his family and the families of his classmates and neighbours, not understanding what was so different between his family and the others as, despite his father's absence, he had two parents that loved him just as everyone else did.
Akira soon entered the CLAMP school, an enormous campus built in Tokyo. Its educational range goes from kindergarten to university graduates, having the campus divided accordingly into sections for each educational division. It's 100% privately funded and had no restrictions to admission, any student could enter, no matter its social class or financial standing, despite that the school was also known for having educated some of Japan's finest talents in every possible area. Akira attended the school right from the start as a kindergarten student, quickly becoming the first of his class in grades besides showing a great talent at cooking; eventually, Akira became an elementary student and found himself voted by his classmates to be part of the Elementary Division's Student Government as the treasurer. It was at that new position of responsability that Akira met and befriended Nokoru Imonoyama and Suoh Takamura, both soon becoming his best friends despite being a bit older than him. Together and due Nokoru's impulsive nature, the trio formed the CLAMP School Detectives, with the objective of solving all the woes of women everywhere, from the small problems to the biggest and serious ones like a stolen object.
Ironically it was around that time when finally Akira picked up his father's identity as "20 Masks" with the objective of making his mothers happy. Whenever the women would claim to "definitively need" or "definitively want" something, Akira would steal it without fail, no matter what it was or the use it would receive later on; though, most often than not the use would have nothing to do with its original purpose, an example being a theater curtain used as a carpet. Despite his young age, Akira soon managed to become a master of disguise and stealth, showing a great intelligence in the way he carried on his robberies and escapades from the police's grasp, no matter how difficult the objective was or how much man power the police used to try to stop him. However, probably due his age despite his great talen, there were still times in which he was close to get caught, forced to find an unexpected hiding place until things calmed down a bit. It was during one of those times that he entered in the Ohkawa mansion, meeting the youngest daughter, Utako, a girl four years younger than him and with a broken heart by the rejection of her love by her teacher. It was merely chance what brought them together, she shouldn't have been awake so late and he shouldn't have had to enter in her room. However, both of them made the best of it quickly establishing a friendship despite Utako's ignorance of "20 Masks" real identity and soon a young love began to blossom between the two.
Since then, Akira's live has been divided that way. During the day he's just Akira, the treasurer of the Elementary Division's Student Government, helping Nokoru and Suoh in whatever he can. During the night, upon being requested by his mothers, he turns into "20 Masks", the cat burglar who fools the police again and again, never leaving behind his objective. And one night every week, he becomes a mixture of Akira and "20 Masks" by being in Utako's company, never sharing his real name as of yet but not having her asking either. It's probably during those hours with her, when Akira becomes whole and hides nothing, his secrets covered by the girl's deep love and wish to be of help to him and never an annoyance. And so, his days go on peacefully, until one day, after finding out that Nokoru was missing from the office and they started a search across the school, Akira suddenly found himself in Luceti.
Personality: There's an undeniable halo of innocence and purity in Akira, just like a baby or a child of barely a few years old. He has the same capacity to be surprised by everything in the world and looks at the world with the same naive eyes as one. He still believes with all his heard in Santa Claus, much to the astonishment of his friends, and easily believes what people tell him. He is prone to reach simple conclusions, merely looking at the surface of things, giving the impression of being quite simple minded. He's sweet and caring, easy to talk to and befriend. Akira's always ready to help in whatever way he can and to take care of others; in fact, Akira ignores his natural talent with at cooking when he considers what he wants to be once he grows up, choosing instead to become a doctor in order to help people. He often places others' happiness above his own interests, finding happiness when he manages to provide that same happiness to those around him, specially the ones he cares about. That's the reason why he will rarely say "no" to any petition he receives, be it from his mothers, his girlfriend, his friends or just a classmate, no matter what they ask, he will try his best to fulfill it and bring them happiness.
Due Akira's naive and innocent character, many tend to forget about his actual intelligence, instead considering him a bit dumb or just simple. However, Akira's is far from being really simple minded or dumb, which one can notice by paying attention to his grades, always the top of his whole grade at school. Even if one was to ignore the academic results and argue that being able to study didn't equal an intelligent mind, they would still be deadly wrong about him. Akira's far more intelligent than what he shows, his talent with mathematics isn't a mere fluke and his apparent lack of capacity to look further than the surface of things is nothing but a facade. He's very observant, always storing every detail in his mind for future use, he has great analyzing skills as well that allow him to design complex plans to perform his robberies, taking into account any possible action the police may take in order to swiftly avoid them. Always taking advantage of even the smallest of the details and preparing long before he even sends the letter announcing his plans and objective, his escapades aren't just a matter of luck which becomes obvious when seeing how much effort the police puts to get him.
Despite this apparent two-faced nature of Akira, he's in no way a liar, neither really hides his intelligence or fakes his kindness. Both his best friends are also at the top of their classes and have great minds, specially Nokoru, while Suoh excels specially in physical talents. Though Akira can't be really equaled to any of them it's still possible for him to be on par with them at some parts, it's because of this that Akira always settles for a relaxing attitude when with his friends. He lets them use their talents to their best without even trying to come close to them in those areas, prefering to take a supportive role by making sure that they are well feed or relaxed. And even if he doesn't want to have his secret as "20 Masks" discovered by his friends he doesn't actively try to hide it from them or anyone, always just trying to avoid any conversation regarding the burglar cat or voice any opinion. He even sincerely supports another friend who is set in capturing "20 Masks", mentally cheering for them both to do their best as if it was a friendly game between the two of them.
There's never an ill intent in his actions, not even when wearing his identity as "20 Masks". Instead, that which fuels his actions as "20 Masks" is nothing but his desire to make his mothers' happy as well as make his father and his girlfriend, who supports him, proud of him. Akira rarely shows disrespect and is always extremely polite; because of, this recently "20 Masks" has been known also for not only sending warnings about his robbery beforehand announcing the exact time of the robbery, but for sending notes afterwards excusing himself and apologizing for any inconveniences his actions had caused. Akira just can't bear to cause havock and not express even a hint of regret to the person he bothered. Probably because of this there are in fact many, besides his mother and his girlfriend, who find "20 Masks" likeable and charming even if he's still a thief.
Akira is also a natural gentleman. If he's normally helpful and kind with people, his efforts double in intensity when dealing with a woman no matter her age or situation. Some people consider this is a trait inherited and influenced by Nokoru, famous for being a feminist; however, the truth is that this is probably something the boy has developed from living with his two mothers and their whims, following his father's example. Akira is quite prone to worry about things or get nervous, specially when dealing with money and Nokoru, given his friend's willingness to always go over the top with his expenses no matter what. His secret about being "20 Masks" or the health and eating habits or others, are also things that often worry his mind and get him nervous and flustered; it's not strange to see him fussing after Suoh and Nokoru's eating habits, always making sure they are well feed and all.
Strengths:
Mental: Akira is very intelligent and analytical. He has a great memory and is good on guessing games or when thinking about others' actions, being able to easily intercept Nokoru when he was sneaking away from a conferece to avoid the fangirls, surprising his friend quite a bit. He is capable of thinking of complex plans and of taking advantage of even the minor details, often shown during his robberies and in his escape plans. Akira is also good with mathematics, being able to mentally calculate and keep track of great amounts, as seen in his work as the treasurer of the Elementary Division's Student Government.
Physical: Akira is agile and fast. He has quick fingers and sharp reflexes which he has trained since he took for the first time the position of "20 Masks". He has a good endurance as well as a result of that, and is versed in both swimming and general acrobatic skills. He's also quite good at some martial arts, being capable of defeating older opponents.
Emotional: Akira is a positive person, always seeing a half-filled glass no matter what. He tries his best to share that optimistic nature with everyone, always having a smile or kind words ready to use. He feels greatly attached to those he considers friends and family, even after exchanging just a few words, and does all he can to help and support them. Despite his tendency to believe everything he's told, he never lets his trust in those he loves waver, no matter what he may be told or shown. He is also ready to completely forgive any harm done to him, thinking that everyone needs as many chances as possible.
Weaknesses:
Mental: Despite his intelligence and analytical capacity, Akira rarely puts them in use unless it's needed, opting to take a relaxed attitude. That relaxed attitude coupled with his naivity makes him an easy prey to be fooled or manipulated. It also leads people to underestimate him, finding him simple minded or extremely childlike.
Physical: Despite his talents, Akira is still human and a child on top of that. His talents don't go beyond what's humanly possible in any way. He also lacks fighting experience outside arranged matches with rules and a referee. And, though he wouldn't hesitate to fight back if he or, specially, his friends are threatened, he could be overpowered by someone not playing by the rules.
Emotional: Despite not being a liar, Akira does have some problems showing all his emotions sometimes, specially when those aren't optimistic or nice. Instead he opts to keep those things to himself, letting them eat him from the inside and trying to get over them on his own. He has never showed sadness over not having a father, and though it's not something that consumes him it's not right to say that sometimes he wonders about it and feels sadness or lonely with just his two mothers. He easily worries about many things though he tends to cover exactly how worried he is. Akira is also prone to feel incredible guilty over the smallest things, quickly assuming it's his fault and he has to apologize somehow even before he knows the whole story; like when Utako received a letter from "20 Masks" announcing another robbery when he hadn't sent such a thing, sure that she would hate him forever because of it. Akira is also a bit shy about other people's, specially women's, affections to him, even a mere hug or innocent kiss will have him blushing, considering it as being unfaithful to his girlfriend.
