Disclaimer/Notes/Whatever: Don't own. Minor spoilers for Sanaki and Naesala's relationship in FE10. When I wrote this, I'd assumed that Sanaki was 13 in FE9 and 16 in FE10, but I'm probably wrong.
1. Sanaki first saw Naesala at her coronation as apostle - all the major political figures were there. She thought he was hot.
2. Naesala thought Sanaki was spoiled, immature, and arrogant. Despite all the times he’d caught her staring at him, the raven king hadn’t quite realized that she didn’t dislike him quite as much as he did her.
3. Years later, when Naesala was roped into working for Sanaki as an escort, she still thought he was hot. This would be why she kept trying to feel him up.
4. Naesala still thought Sanaki was an arrogant little kid, but he’d realized the possible benefits to having the apostle as a… contact. This would be why he didn’t blast her with a Vortex every time she tried to feel him up.
5. He’d also realized that if he annoyed her, she could very well land him in jail or worse. Thus, he had to follow all of her orders, even the horribly embarrassing and/or damaging ones. Such as the time she’d ordered him to start stripping.
6. “…How old are you supposed to be, anyway?” “Old enough to be bored to tears. Now hurry up!” “…” “…hmmph. You can keep your underwear on if it bothers you that much.”
7. The next day, Naesala’d tracked down Sigrun and squawked that she either had to double his pay, call off the contract, or teach Sanaki to keep her hands to herself. The guard captain was quite confused, and Naesala was unwilling to explain any further.
8. Sigrun ended up doubling Naesala’s salary, since whenever she mentioned the possibility of Naesala no longer working for them, the apostle had given her an icy glare.
9. Naesala had remained in Sanaki’s employ until after the final battle, when he told her, as bluntly as possible, that no amount of money would get him to keep this job. Sanaki had nodded and said she understood.
10. One week later, a messenger had arrived in Kilvas, with a letter saying that some affairs of trade still needed to be worked out between Begnion and Kilvas, and Naesala really should come discuss them in a week or so, and of course everything is discussed better over food, so she’d already made a reservation for the finest restaurant in Begnion. Her treat, of course.
11. Naturally, it was Nealuchi who read this letter first, and gleefully teased Naesala over it constantly for days. The raven king only actually left for Begnion to get some peace and quiet.
12. Sanaki soon discovered that a) Naesala did own clothes that were not leather and did not show any part of his chest, and b) he was still incredibly hot in them.
13. It turned out that Sanaki had left most of the papers detailing the current trade at her cathedral, and of course Naesala wouldn’t mind if they went there after dinner to go get them, would he?
14. Conveniently, many of the residents of Mainal Cathedral were out on some dispatch or another. Naesala had very little time to contemplate this.
15. Despite being much smaller than Naesala, Sanaki had a very strong grip, and was fully capable of pulling him down by the collar and snogging him, as she demonstrated.
16. Naesala quickly decided that the trade issues weren’t all that important.
17. (Unfortunately, not all the residents of Mainal Cathedral were out. Sanaki discovered this the next day, when no fewer than nine maids each came up and asked if Naesala was really that good of a kisser or not.)
18. When Naesala returned to Kilvas, Nealuchi had kept on teasing him about his ‘date’. Naesala decided that beating his own head against a wall, repeatedly, would somehow get his retainer to stop. It didn’t work.
19. The next time some quote-unquote ‘trade issues’ came up, Sanaki casually mentioned that she’d be turning seventeen (the legal age of consent in both Begnion and Kilvas) in a few months. This marked the only time Sanaki had ever seen the raven king actually blush.
20. A few months later, the Kilvan messenger was quite put off when the apostle collapsed into giggles upon seeing him. Honestly. He had a very important letter to deliver! The fates of both their nations were probably at stake! …Or something like that!
