Notes: This got weird on me... first-person, and most of the proper nouns never capitalized... spoilers at least to 83, but possibly to 99 if you squint.
1-i like at least trying to be patient, mostly because i know mello can’t stand severely patient people
2-mello also says he can’t stand smokers but he's lying as far as that one's concerned and i know it
3-i wonder and doubt sometimes that misa was actually Kira at some point, because faces like hers couldn’t-well, shouldn’t-kill with a smile
4-misa needs a better lover, according to her (maybe outdated) webpage she and yagami have been together since i was in high school yet they’re still not even officially engaged… that’s lame…
5-i stole one of mello’s chocolate bars from him when i was a kid, just to see if his candy tasted any better than anyone else’s, if that was why he always ate it, but i was disappointed. It was just the same as any other chocolate bar.
6-When L died no one thought i needed to know. So i played the old Game Boy that L had left me back way before Kira and wondered if mello was skipping class or something-then i found the note that mello had left me, telling me everything and nothing
7-And i threw down the Game Boy and almost set the note on fire with my lighter and failed my english test that day on purpose-i lied when i said i was patient
8-misa’s english is very good, much better than my japanese, which is vaguely on par with a kindergartener (something mello unfortunately did not know when he got me for the job…). Luckily, mello at least says he’s going to tell me how you say “Don’t shoot” in japanese. Not that that’s exactly relief.
9-mom would cry if she could see me now
10-Hell, L would probably at least be disappointed. i can’t exactly blame either of them
11-Last time i fell asleep while spying mello yelled at me annoyingly. Something about “We can’t catch Kira like this,” “How can you do this,” and “You’ve got to quit playing video games so much at night.” i went back to sleep after saying i was sorry, so eventually he gave up.
12-The only problem with near, i think, is that he’s smarter than mello and mello knows it. That and if i believe mello, he still plays with rubber ducks.
13-Actually, near used to seriously freak me out as a kid-one time i found his puppet of me and thought he planned on using it for voodoo. After that i always made sure to be ridiculously nice to him. And i also hid the puppet.
14-Unless near found it or someone moved it, the puppet should still be inside an antique teacup in one of the armoires at the orphanage. But I bet you anything near just shrugged and made another one. near’s like that
15-i started smoking when i was fourteen for no real reason other than boredom
16-linda used to say it was an oral fixation but it didn’t irritate her enough to tell me to quit and by the time she'd even noticed, i was past stopping. But even she didn’t think i’d die of lung cancer.
17-i remember once L asked me what i wanted to do with my life, but i can't recall what i told him, just that he kind of smiled when i said it. Whatever i did tell him, i'm sure it didn't resemble what i'm doing with my life now in the slightest.
18-mello still won’t tell me how he got the burn on his face and all over his back and apparently he thinks i can’t figure it out for myself
19-i figure i’ll probably die trying to catch Kira, there’s not really any way around it
20-But I don’t like the idea of a game over so soon.
