That was adorable! I love that their emotions weren't so incredibly complex that it was unrealistic, but at the same time you made it obvious that they did understand what was going on and they did feel things deeply. I like that they alternate between acting like pets and like people, which is a good approximation of what they are in canon. And it didn't occur to me that Ruby Carbuncle couldn't speak in any human language the way the Gem Beasts could, that really brought home why Ruby and Hane Kuriboh would be so close. Overall, this was entirely lovely. Thank you so much for posting! ♥
To be honest, the two spirits weren't shown much in canon, even more so together, that's why this was a little difficult to finish as well. But I enjoyed writing about them as much as I did the other claim.
And yeah, that's a little trivia I just discovered as well. But even though they can't speak human language, their voices are still cute~ I mean, who can resist them when they say "Rubibi~" or "Kuri, kuri!" 8D
Hooray, a post at 20_kuribohs! pijsanSeptember 15 2010, 17:46:50 UTC
D'aaaaw. That was cute. <3 I liked how you talked about Winged Kuriboh's feelings about Judai becoming Haou. ;s; I never thought about how he might've felt guilty about it. Ruby and Kuriboh have so much in common too, wow. Just like their masters, it's a great parallel.
Good stuff, thanks for sharing! :D
Also heeey, you're the Aquamarine Crystalline at the forums! 8U *waves*
Mostly because I had to re-watch majority of season 3 for this, I was able to notice a lot of things. Hane Kuriboh and Ruby Carbuncle weren't even shown much, all the more so for their antics together. That's why the latter part focused on Hane Kuriboh more.
Thank you too!
Um, yes, I am. By any chance, do I know you there? *waves back* 8D
Yeah, it's a lot easier to notice and remember stuff while it's still fresh in your mind, or you've seen it a million times, whichever comes first. 8D; Also yeah really, poor Ruby and Kuriboh were shafted. :C
You're welcome~!
lol, probably not, but I know who you are. I'm the person with the Ed icon. 8U
Aww man, that is awesome! Very nicely written! You captured their characters perfectly, especially their love for their Masters. And you handled their ambiguous genders well, probably a smart move. I personally go for Hane Kuriboh as a boy and Ruby as a girl, but I think the subs disagree with me. ^^; Ah well.
Yeah, I thought I was going to get a ton of debates if I put specific genders for them so I went the ambiguous way ahaha.
I have a similar view, since Ruby's voice is a little girly, and the colour also. But yeah, GymLeaderLance99's subs translated Johan saying 'Yeah, he's Ruby Carbuncle' in episode 106.
Seriously, during that arc Hane Kuriboh did nothing but warn for danger. Your ability to write from the perspective of a tiny flying ball of fur is impressive.
YEEEEEESSSSS ToT Makes me want to hug and cuddle the little guy
Exactly those actions of Hane Kuriboh made me want to see its perspective (and Ruby Carbuncle by proxy since they are quite similar, as I have found studying for this fic).
Thank you. :) It was fun writing like a cute tiny flying ball of fur. xDDD

Yeah, they were the source of cuteness (and occasional humor, especially for the dark early-Season 3).
Edo icon? Oh, is it Pidge-san?
... Uh wait, doesn't that sound the same as your lj username? -_-' I didn't notice! LOL, I'm such an idiot. :p
