By now Naminé’s sketchbook was plump with use and exhaustion. She had already drawn numerous sketches and creations (“Masterpieces!” exclaims Roxas.) of what they would have done if they had met from the beginning. Naminé could remember burying Roxas in the sand and forming a mermaid tail around his legs and bikini top on his chest. Roxas could boast of teaching Naminé to surf for the first time, Naminé had already treated Roxas to a picnic, and Roxas could remember catching the fish that they had eaten. Together, both Naminé and Roxas were able to help each other remember as memories flowed mutually between them.
She etched away lovingly at her sketchbook, feeling a trance like state over her each time. Roxas was the one who had noticed this, “Your eyes get so dark…almost violet when you get into it.” Roxas, thinking about him increased her pencil to a blur of motion across the paper, but it always seemed too slow to create the memory festering in her mind.
The pencil skidded to a halt and short gasps for breath were being released from her chest as if she had just broken the surface of water. A smile spread across her face, the drawing was complete so far it was her favorite one. She tore the picture from her sketchbook and dashed out of her bleached room, disappearing as soon as she opened the door. She couldn’t wait to meet Roxas.
He stood, leaning against the rail, looking at a familiar sunset, he knew it was the same one he and Naminé had been sharing and knew that it would lead into the same twilight, and then night, yet with her they were all so different in their own special way. He put his foot on the lower rail and balanced his body by leaning his knees against the higher one. He stretched out his arms and looked at the diminishing sun and golden hills. He lifted his arm, tracing each curve that the rays fell on…just like Naminé.
“Roxas!” Naminé flickered for a second, then stood on the other end of Sunset Hill, Roxas loved how she went through the darkness so fast that it was only a flicker as opposed to a purple archway for her.
“Naminé…” He said her name so tenderly; a manner he thought was not capable for them. He stepped off the rail and faced her, his mind consumed over something he couldn’t pinpoint, but the smile her presence always created lay dumbly on his mouth.
The paper rustled in her hand and she began to run towards Roxas, Roxas in turn began to run towards her and the two in a hurried and desperate manner met halfway, panting from no exhaustion. They stood, the golden sky watching them as they stared at each other. Violet meeting cerulean, Roxas tilting his head lower to hers not touching but sensing that it was right, Naminé lifting her hand awkwardly skimming it right above Roxas’ arm and shoulder. Never touching.
“Yo-you made another drawing?” Roxas said almost reluctantly pulling away from their extreme closeness.
“Y-yes.” Flustered, Naminé dropped her traveling hand and in turn held out the picture to Roxas.
“This one’s my favorite.” She smiled with the thought and looked to see Roxas’ reaction while studying the drawing.
“It looks beautiful, there’s my surfboard and there you are sitting in front of it…”
“Then you came in Roxas, and there you are walking inside while I…” Her eyes widened as the memory became clearer, and then Roxas made it all too real.
“Naminé…you drew on my surfboard?” Roxas dropped the paper to his side as he stared unnerved at Naminé, his mind was bubbling with heat.
Naminé’s eyes searched around nervously as she backed away from Roxas, “I made it pretty Roxas.” She was grasping what she could from the memory but she couldn’t stand it falling apart before her.
“Naminé, I had a surfing competition that day, I remember, and when I walked in to go get it you were there messing it all up.” He looked up angrily searching beyond the brightness over him.
“Roxas I wasn’t messing it up I-!” Naminé screamed at Roxas, strained over creating such a drawing and at how useless the memory had been. She grabbed the drawing from his hand and turned away from him, not wanting her heated mind to get the best of her.
“I was off that’s all…I must have drawn something wrong okay.” The frustration was making her mind go crazy, the memory was fogging up quickly and she just wanted to stop dwelling on it.
“Naminé it’s okay, it was just a bad one today but I mean…that was in the past wasn’t it?” He shook a hand through the back of his hair, staring at the motionless figure of Naminé, he cautiously walked closer to her, “Besides I have somewhere else I wanted to take you anyway.” His hand rested on her shoulder and her head turned slowly to look at it.
“Where?” She said quietly, her eyes a soft pale blue, emphasizing her defeated tone.
“Come on.” Roxas tugged at her shoulder urging her to follow him as he opened a portal, “We’re going to No Name.”
The club scene was intense and this time a sense of heat was the primal ambiance for the club. Everyone was wearing tanks and shorts, and Roxas was forced out of his shirt to the white muscle one underneath.
“So, you’re telling me you can remember more than ever now?” Axel was leaning against the wall in a far off corner away from the bustling bodies.
“Yeah..and I’m telling you it’s because of her…you should ask her to draw something for you Axel, maybe you could have memories too, we could have a whole life together!” Roxas took a drink from his glass, and stared wildly at his friend.
“No man…that’s pretty scary, and I still don’t know much about her, but that Vexen and the founders are still studying her. We’ll talk later…now I have a show to do.” He cocked a smile for pure effect then hopped on stage with Demyx and Larxene. Apparently the three of them would be doing a live performance, Axel on drums, Demyx on lead guitar and Larxene on bass…killer combination. Roxas shot down the rest of his drink then pulled Naminé away from the table she had been sitting at.
“If I remember, I think I had asked you dance some time ago.” He smiled at her as Axel started up the drums. Naminé giggled and let Roxas lead her out to the floor.
“Oh, but Roxas,” She folded her hands covering her mouth, “I don’t know how to dance.” Her eyes searched wildly around the crowd watching the figures rubbing against each other…she was red.
“It’s easy,” Demyx had begun his awesome guitar solo, and Larxene was singing along with him, “All you have to do,” Roxas turned Naminé around with her back facing him, “is roll with the music and follow my body.” With the music interfering with any ideas in their minds, all they had were instincts and blood to concentrate on. Roxas at once forgot why he didn’t want to touch such a soft body, and placed his hands possessively on Naminé’s hips. The touch made her grab his hands instantly and relish in the heat his body made her sweat with.
Demyx ended the night with an awesome spray of water from his sitar that soaked everyone. The music had been great, fast and rampant in some parts and smooth and sexy in others, the sexiness emphasized with bursts of fire coming from Axel every chance he got.
“Hmm..I am soo soaked!” Naminé laughed pleasantly as she sat herself on top of Roxas’ bed drying her hair out and wearing one of Axel’s shirts (Roxas had found one on the floor that fit her like a nightgown).
“Naminé you are a great dancer.” Roxas said, laying his head on his pillow already nodding off, “Sleep here tonight…please.” He threw his arm out to her, just barely unable to reach her but still beckoning.
Her pale blue eyes looked at him almost paining themselves with devotion for him, “No Roxas, I can’t, but, how ‘bout I be here before you wake up?” She scooted herself next to him laying down beside him, but not touching his outstretched hand.
“Sure, whatever…we can do another memory tomorrow.” He closed his eyes and breathed her in, when he opened them again to see her lying next to him…she was gone.
-Shouldn't have said that~
