Character/Pairing/Group: Shishido/Ohtori
Rating: PG13-R for the word "rape" ._.
Disclaimer/Notes: I hope this is okay! ^^; If not, please shoot me. This was my first try at this sort of thing. ^^; And amazingly hard. I used it as a sort of way to break my writing block.
I don't know everything about how Japanese schools work (actually, I know pretty much nothing.) so if they're supposed to be taking exams or something, I'm really really sorry. ;;;
1
When Shishido Ryou and Ohtori Choutarou first met, their immediate impression (no words spoken, and in unison no less) was that they didn’t like each other.
Shishido was a second year, subregular. Ohtori was a first year.
2
Ohtori preferred the company of Hiyoshi-san before he made regulars, or any of the other first years really. Unfortunately, the actual regulars at the time seemed to be staking him out especially to pick up balls and do their work for them.
They thought he was mocking them as he smiled at them and bowed to their will without argument, even when they made him perform the most ridiculous tasks.
3
Shishido-sempai was annoying, arrogant, and crude to Ohtori, who was the son of an extremely wealthy man and used to the gentle refinement of the upper class.
4
Ohtori was almost raped. Said regulars had decided to try to “beat some sense” into him. Shishido-sempai had walked in on them in the locker rooms while being asked to deliver something from Kantoku to the captain.
He had somehow managed to throw the much bigger- and stronger- sempai off Ohtori and told him to run. Meanwhile he had become the target of their attacks. Ohtori returned quickly with Kantoku, who had promptly thrown all three involved members off the team (and attempted to get them expelled.) This included the captain and singles two and three players.
Atobe-sempai became the replacement buchou in his second year, as many of the third years decided to quit given their expectance of priority over their kouhai. This was nearly the end of the season. Due to inexperience, Hyoutei lost in the Regionals.
5
Shishido-sempai had only gotten worse as he made regulars. He even always designated Ohtori to pick up balls for him.
Not to say he was cruel, though; just annoying.
Now Ohtori, if forced to be in the company of his sempai, would try to be with anyone but Shishido-sempai. Atobe-buchou was also self-centered but sophisticated; Oshitari-sempai a little creepy but mysteriously charismatic; Mukahi-sempai foul-mouthed but charming; Kabaji-san alien-like but incredibly kind; Taki-sempai beautiful and gracious; Akihara-sempai calculating but gentle. Jirou-sempai didn’t seem one of Hyoutei at all, but was amazing and sweet.
6
Ohtori found that he could never keep his eyes off Shishido-sempai when he was playing. He discounted it as a fascination with his hair.
7
Ohtori had always wanted to grow his hair out. Unfortunately, after a point the natural curls would just make him look dirty and coarse. This was certainly not the image that he- or his parents- desired.
But, after all, Ohtori could never keep his eyes off of Mukahi-sempai and Oshitari-sempai when they were playing doubles. Both the players’ hair was long and beautiful.
It also fascinated him, the bond that two who were not of blood could have.
He wanted to see if he could have it, too
8
After deciding this, he signed up for the doubles ranking matches and was put with Taki-sempai. They had won, and Ohtori was made a regular in doubles 2. Akihara-sempai was kicked off after losing to them 6-0.
The third year regulars, other than Akihara, had won all their games in a shutout. Oshitari-sempai and Mukahi-sempai were not matched against each other.
9
Ohtori could not help but feel a mixture of pity for Shishido-sempai and bemusement when he lost to Tachibana-san of Fudoumine and was kicked off regulars. Especially as it had completely shattered his overconfident pride.
He made himself practice violin for an extra hour as punishment.
Shishido-sempai called fifteen minutes into his additional time to ask if he would help him get back onto regulars. Ohtori, without asking questions, accepted as his duty to be a good kouhai and to repent for himself.
Ohtori got back two hours past his curfew and was reprimanded by his parents. For some reason, he couldn’t bring himself to care in the slightest and forgot about those forty-five minutes that he had promised to play.
10
As he spent more time with Shishido-sempai (practicing, that is) Ohtori finally began to see the good points in his upperclassman. And understood that his disposition was due to his being brought up in a poor neighborhood. (Shishido-san attending Hyoutei on a scholarship.) And respected him. And, eventually, felt confident enough to claim (what he hoped was) friendship with Shishido… san.
11
When Choutarou said he would give his regulars’ spot up for Shishido-san, he duly meant it. This did not mean that Shishido-san was fully pleased with him.
Shishido-san hated owing things to people close to him. It made him feel like the person was indefinitely waiting, distressed, for what was their fair compensation.
Choutarou knew that Shishido-san cared more for others than he’d ever admit.
12
Choutarou always feels a sense of loss and refreshment when he sees Shishido-san’s hair without his usual sky-blue cap. (no doubt, chosen by Choutarou himself.) And he doesn’t think he’ll ever get over that.
13
The two were both stunned and confused when they had been assigned as doubles partners, especially since Shishido-san had absolutely no experience as one. However, they knew it would work out… somehow… almost as soon as their task was given.
14
No one on the team could deny the sheer power of their trust and sync. Therefore, it was no surprise to anyone when they had defeated the Oshitari/Mukahi pair in a ranking match 6-3 to become doubles 1.
Not even the defeated pair. Not even Atobe-buchou. Not even when it was barely a month after they had been put together.
15
When Shishido-san and Choutarou are playing together, they never look at each other. They hardly ever see anything but the ball in their minds, because they don’t need to. And they don’t hear anything but the silent commands given to each other through some strange mind-link that they developed. The one that only good matches can ever have.
16
The entire school was shocked when they had finally gotten together.
This wasn’t however, because they were both guys or anything. Everyone knew that sports-club members couldn’t keep their hands off each other.
It was just because it had taken so long for them to realize that they were in love with each other, a lot of people were convinced that they never would.
Choutarou was forced to ask Shishido-san out because all the latter could do was attempt to scowl and pull his cap’s brim over his face so as to hide his blush.
17
Their first date and first kiss were both on the night of the Tanabata festival.
In fact, that first kiss took place after they found out they had both wished for it.
18
Shishido-san majored in history and became a substitute teacher once he got out of college. He “worked his ass off” so Choutarou could achieve his dream of being a solo violinist.
Choutarou would threaten to drop out of school if Shishido-san skipped another meal to help pay for his tuition (Choutarou’s parents would only allow the two to live together if they handled their own bills)
Sometimes Shishido-san said offhandedly that he’d quit his job and find a more steadily, albeit lower paying, job like at a gas station or something.
The two would argue for hours until they were too tired and literally kissed and made up.
19
Their first time together was just after Choutarou had graduated college. They had somehow made it and decided to celebrate with dinner.
The night ended in their decision to finally progress in their relationship.
Choutarou, being the true sap he is, secretly celebrates this day in his mind every year as a personal holiday.
20
When Shishido Ryou and Ohtori Choutarou first met, their immediate impression (no words spoken, and in unison no less) was that they didn’t like each other.
Because, immediately, there was a spark there. A spark of a far deeper connection possible with each other that could be described as merely “like.” And even if it was only subconscious, they knew it.
