Booth Brothers in the Finale

I was just re-watching the finale (for the sixth or seventh time) and I noticed something I hadn't noticed before (or seen anyone mention): Jared is wearing Seeley's infamous "cocky" belt buckle in the AU verse.

And it got me thinking about Jared's role in the AU and how very Seeley-like he is. Working with Cam, having a thing for Brennan (evidenced by Cam's early remark about how "if they bust up, you get a chance"), telling his brother that he "needs to grow up", and, the major one, killing someone who was threatening Brennan.

It's almost like he's the Seeley insert in the AU. Which makes me wonder if those bits were Seeley's post-surgery, coma brain trying to somehow separate his feelings for Brennan from his work. I feel like the role reversal has to have some kind of significance for the future of Booth and Brennan's relationship, but I can't quite grasp what it might be.

Also in re-watching, I'm inclined to believe that more of the dream was Booth's coma than Brennan's book because of the throwbacks to earlier episodes - Max working for the Gravedigger and Sweets' band being called Gormogon. It wouldn't make sense for Brennan to use those things in her writing, but if his brain was sorting through memories, it would make sense to slot in familiar/important things in unconventional ways.

Something else I found interesting: No one ever mentioned that Max was Brennan's father in the AU. That makes me think that the bits about him were more her book and Booth's brain just slotting in the 'shady criminal type' he had memories of.

I don't know. We could probably deconstruct this in a thousand different ways. The belt buckle and the lack of mention of Max as Brennan's dad were two that struck me as important though.
