Let me say this - Dana's brother, Charlie, is a really great guy. I get along well with him, his ex wife, his children, and the person he is seeing. Right now, Charlie is on some assignment and we won't see him for years (thanks to his involvement in a search for a cure for Dana's cancer) but I've always liked him. Bill? Well? He's an overprotective ass who hates me.
Today, I held Mrs. Scully's hand while they put Dana under for the biopsy. Bill paced and growled in my direction.
I'm sorry, Billy. But remissions end. People with cancer often have to deal with it more than once in their lives. And I'd sell my soul all over again to cure her. But growing at me does no good.
Dana has been drifting in and out since the procedure. They're sending her home tomorrow provided she stays stable. We'll know more next week about the tests they are running.
Honestly ... it will probably be nothing new. Honestly, life will probably continue. We will continue to search. Dana will live and we will survive what is coming.
I hope.
But she opened her eyes this afternoon and she squeezed my hand and she smiled.
That, in the end, is all I need.
