How did you and your fiance meet?:
How long have you been together?: Our first solo date was in August 2004. I was exclusive from that point on, as was Bob. But we were recognized by others as a couple by October 2004. Bob never officially asked me to be his girlfriend, but we count September (the month of our first kiss) as our anniversary.
What was the proposal like?: Bob took me to school for my last final exam of the spring semester. That morning he told me that he had a surprise for me, but he wouldn't tell me what it was. We went to dinner at his parent's house, and he still wouldn't say anything. After dinner, we got in the car and he started driving. Every time we would pass a road sign, he would divert my attention so I wouldn't see where we were going. He finally let me see the "Welcome to Florida" sign. We drove until he found small, secluded beach. We got out and walked along the moonlit surf. There was a wooden platform in the water that we stood on. We stood there among the waves, overlooking the sea. He took my hand and asked me if I was ready for that surprise. I said that I was, and he dropped to one knee and asked me to marry him.
Who did you tell the news to first: My mom. I called her as soon as we got back in his truck. It was like 12:30 at night! Then I called my best friend and left a message saying that I didn't have a boyfriend anymore. She called back all like "oh i'm gonna beat his ass" before I told her that he had proposed.
Have you started to plan your wedding yet?: Yes indeedy
Do you have your own personal wedding web site?: Yep. Two sites and a LJ community. Site 1 - The Knot, Site 2 - Wedding Announcer (just started that one last night), Community = stice_mcgough
How many people are you going to have/would you like to have?: Our wishful guest list has about 335 people on it.
Wedding Theme: Elegant, formal, classic
Wedding Colors: Red with Black, White, and Silver accents
Wedding Dress: Alfred Angelo #1516 in Claret
Wedding Shoes: I want something with no heel because Bob and I are the same height. I'm thinking of either some Isotoner ballet-type slippers, or a pair of those sequined slings that I keep seeing everyone wear.
Wedding Jewelry: Haven't picked or found anything in particular yet. I want simple and silver, with maybe some diamond-like sparkles.
Something Old: I'll be incorporating my great-grandmother's rosary into my bouquet somehow
Something New: Dress, shoes, undergarments, etc.
Something Borrowed: No clue. Maybe some jewelry or something
Something Blue: I want the white/blue garter that holds the sixpence
Location of Wedding Ceremony: We haven't booked any place yet, but we know that it will be in either Montgomery, AL or here in Troy. We're looking at: The local Unitarian church; the Shakespeare Gardens Amphitheatre; First Baptist Church in Montgomery; First Presbyterian in Troy; and a few other cute churches in Troy
Location of Wedding Reception: Again, we haven't book a place yet and it will be in either Montgomery or Troy. Ideally, I'd like to have the reception at the same place that we had the ceremony.
Will there be any religious or cultural traditions incorporated into your wedding?: We may try to throw in some traditional Celtic/Irish something-or-other, but we're not sure yet.
How many people are in your wedding party?: Right now, 5 on each side. I'm trying to talk Bob into adding one more guy so I can add one more of my girlfriends. :)
