The 25th tropical storm of a record hurricane season formed on Wednesday in the central Atlantic and could strengthen into a hurricane, but it posed no immediate threat to land, U.S. forecasters said.

The storm had maximum sustained winds of 60 mph (95 kph) and could become a hurricane with winds of at least 74 mph (119 kph) in the next 24 hours, the center said.
