You know, when I wasn't IN the GDF, you guys seemed to basically always be on top of everything, no matter where you went. But now that I'm here, everything's constantly on the brink of falling apart.

Did things take a turn for the worse, or is it just a case of perspective?

I'm not sure. But I know things like this have happened from time to time and it certainly did seem like the EDF and later GDF were always on the ball when I was just a civilian.

Of course that changed when I ended up joining.

You know, for such an elite military group, the GDF seems to have a lot of people who were civilians before joining.

Yeah.

I guess it's just circumstances lead to that. Or they have a sense of duty. Or sometimes both.

It's still there. At Armory-1, Captain Jenius was able to use a ZAKU better than almost anyone I've ever seen, and it was just his first time in one. And there's Amuro Ray too.
