Sorry about getting these up late! It's been a crazy few weeks! -_-' I've been helping around the house and searching for jobs.

Anyways, here are my entries for narnia20in20! I really enjoyed doing this round!

But before I get to the icons, I want to give some background on my choices for the category icons. The keywords for diamond were facets (geometric shapes), icy, brilliance, invincibility, hardness. I wanted to drawn on the icy river in the background as well as the brilliance of Peter's new sword, a present from Father Christmas. I think both the ice and Peter's sword can both be associated with facets and hardness.

For ruby, I was originally going to do Lucy (if you can't tell by the alternates, lol!), but I didn't really like what I came up with. So I decided to go with Edmund instead. The keywords or associations for ruby are of kings & queens, flame, passion, glamour, and sanguine. Well, obviously, Edmund is a king! ^^ I also think he particularly had flame and passion for doing the right thing despite what he saw those older than him doing.

For emerald, I really wanted to do Susan in her green dress (that and her farewell dress are two of my favorites!), but, again, I didn't really like how my icon turned out. So, I decided to go for a verdant background instead. The keywords or associations for emerald are verdant, spring, renewal, youth, joy, and natural scenery. Well, verdant and natural scenery obviously fit the scene. However, I think it also demonstrates the soon coming renewal of Narnia as well as the joy of Edmund's return and the growth of all four.

For sapphire, I was having a hard time deciding between water and sky. I decided to go with water, but ended up throwing in the sky as well (can you see it?) for fun. The keywords or associations for sapphire were blue, sky, water, open/negative space, wisdom, mystical, and depth. For this icon, I chose the scene where the painting of the Dawn Treader comes to life, and Lucy and her brother Edmund as well as her cousin Eustace Scrubb find themselves in the water. I thought the screencap I chose when really well with this theme with the blue color of the water as well as the open and negative space. Mystical is displayed in that the painting came to life and brought them to Narnia. For wisdom, Lucy (in the book) thanks her lucky stars that she practiced swimming while she was at school. Sky is partly displayed in that she's swimming to the top where there's air and sky. But also, for fun, I made the water look like a starry sky (inspiration from The Legend of the Blue Sea).
