don’t get what they want in life: low frustration tolerance.
If something frustrates you, it upsets or angers you because you are
unable to do anything about the problems it creates.
These questions frustrated me...
Doesn't it frustrate you that audiences in the theatre are so restricted?
Tolerance is the quality of allowing other people to say and do as they like,
even if you do not agree or approve of it.
...his tolerance and understanding of diverse human nature.
Tolerance is the ability to bear something painful or unpleasant.
There is lowered pain tolerance, lowered resistance to infection.
...a low tolerance of errors.
A solution to a problem or difficult situation is a way of
dealing with it so that the difficulty is removed.
Although he has sought to find a peaceful solution,
he is facing pressure to use greater military force.
...the ability to sort out simple, effective solutions to practical problems.
I can’t tell you how many people I know give up at the first real sign of difficulty when trying to achieve something, claiming that “It’s too hard!” or “I can’t do it.” They grew up with this superficial view of how things work in life and they think that, when they want something, somebody can give them a simple and exact solution to attain it, they can apply that solution perfectly from the get go, and voila! They’ve achieved their goal. But that’s not how things work.
Many times others can only show you the broad action steps. You still have to figure out the specific details on your own, through lots of trial and error. And even if someone teaches you an exact method to achieve something, you probably won’t be able to implement all of it effectively from the start, because...
it’s too complex.
So one way or another, you will make mistakes, you will fail, and the results you seek will often refuse to appear. And you’ll just have to try and keep going for as long as you can, despite the fact it’s a frustrating situation. Fight your initial impulse to call it quits and march ahead through the frustration.
As you do so you build frustration tolerance. And with enough frustration tolerance, you can persist in trying to achieve even the boldest goals long enough to achieve them. When you’ve reached that point, almost nothing is impossible. (с) Eduard Ezeanu
