Nice visit but...

We made a whirlwind trip to NYC a couple weeks ago. Parents both chipper and happy to spend some time with us (and cook for us, which is always fun). Grandparents' house about to get demolished. All the trees are gone, as is the wild overgrowth behind the house. We did the ferry/subway/whocareswherewegowe'reinManhattan thing, ending up at first Macys Herald Square (don't ask) and then Riverside Park to visit with Em and her daughter, whom we hadn't seen since the now-four-year-old was an infant. The boys followed her around like ducklings. Also visited the nieces, and their cousins, and met the homely dog and the bearded dragon that belong to my brother-in-law. Talked college plans with Niece #1. Don't faint.

Dad headed back to the hospital for a (scheduled) angioplasty, which they couldn't do b/c of too much plaque in the artery in question; then his heart rate dropped to 40 or 50 so they kept him a few extra days and installed a pacemaker earlier this week. He's home now. As my friend here says, "The good news is he gets to bypass the airport security screening." That of course is if he ever feels up to flying again. humph.

P.S. If you're on the Grand Central Parkway eastbound heading to LGA rental car return, it's not marked but it's Terminal A. 28 minutes to the LGA minutes, 45 minutes lost in Queens b/c we couldn't just turn around, missed our 6 a.m. flight. Thanks, Port Authority.
