write your representative

Or something.

I was kinda pissed that I didn't get the Texas Grant this year...for whatever reason. The Financial Aid people said it was because they ran out of money. And I assumed it was because they did my financial aid "last" because I was a transfer. Soo...I wrote my representative a little email. I just basically asked him not to support the budget cuts that would take away the Texas Grant for people that need it....because it's not always easy to just get a loan (especially if your parents have bad credit).

I highly doubt Larry Phillips went out of his way and told UNT to give me a grant, but that's just what happened. I got a phone call about a week and a half later (or maybe it was two weeks) and it was the Financial Aid people telling me to bring in documentation that shows that I got the Texas Grant my first semester at school. They would take away my UNT tuition grant and the Federal Supplemental grant ($800 together), but the Texas Grant is a lot more than that. Yeah, for whatever reason the Texas Grant is $295 more than it was last time I got it (and I got the full amount last time). I'm not complaining. So anyways, I should be getting a nice refund soon. I'm only writing about this now because it just showed up in my financial aid today. The only bad part is that this makes me be more of a bum and not get another job...and I took out a loan that I don't really need.

So...um...write your representative. :)
