I am ready for SEPTEMBER NOW!!!
Ok..........August has NOT been my month. NOT AT ALL!!! Bring on September PLEASE!!!
Well, after my last entry that told of my lovely fall that split open my chin (which is healing nicely, by the way!)------I got in a car accident last Saturday. A college kid from Florida that was visiting Nashville blasted through a red light and hit my new, shiny 2005 car. I sprained or bruised my right foot, but other than that............I am absolutely fine. I was wearing my seatbelt (thanks to my Mommy in heaven that reminds me that she forgot her seatbelt one fateful night). My car is crunched, but I am hoping for the best there too. Once again............counting my blessings.
But, they say things happen in 3s. Well, I know my third one too.
Number one--my chin. Number two--my accident. Number three---having a HORRIBLE, DEVASTATING storm that carries my name. Hurricane Katrina has now landed and finally passed over Nashville. Oddly enough, it hit my home state of Louisiana first. And, to all those who have emailed or called........thank you for your concern...........and yes, my family is FINE!!! I think I got worse than they did........they got nothing and I have a tree limb down in my backyard. They were on the WEST side of the hurricane.......always the good side......because of the direction of the swirl of the storm.
But, I am heartbroken watching the devastation for the others. My name has ALWAYS been difficult for people to say, spell, etc. And, now, it is well known and associated with massive destruction and death. It saddens me so. My thoughts and prayers are with all those touched by the storm.
What to do? I will just have to work very hard to be a positive force in life and in the world to change the association of the name Katrina. I am up to the challenge..........and even without a hurricane named after you..............I hope that EVERYONE makes their name a Category 5 Hurricane of love, caring, and gentleness.
