I don't want to be too harsh on you guys this week because I feel this was a very challenging photoshoot. It took a level of research, comprehension, creativity and skill that usually takes an entire team of people to accomplish and, as far as I'm concerned, for doing everything on your own, you didn't do so bad at all.

The main idea behind this shoot was that robots don't really have emotions, but they simulate the ones they see humans have. That's why your expressions should have looked over-the-top, but not completely cheesy. There is a very fine line between that, and we all wanted to see if you could walk that line. Then there were other required shots that didn't have as much meaning behind them--half human half robot, full robot, full human. Those were for variety.

"Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" poses the question: do androids dream like humans do? That topic is conveyed in I, Robot, hence why the character of Sonny was in the theme banner.. However I think Ailsa took it a little literally.. (We did want you to do some research and create your own android look.)

Here are your critiques. I'm going to be pretty gentle this week because I feel like it's partly my responsibility that any of your pictures were unsatisfactory.

Ailsa
You tried really hard, and I can tell. But some things just.. don't work.. And I'm unsure how you thought this did. I respect that you went all-out, and that you tried something new and creative, but in the end it just turned.. kinda creepy. To me it looked more mime-who-substituted-wax-for-his-normal-makeup than 'android.' I did think you had some great ideas like with the barcodes and call numbers, and the shot where you looked like a robot falling apart, but the white ones gave me chills.. LOL.

I do take some responsibility in that it was a very difficult shoot. Had you guys had a professional makeup artist or something, I'm sure you would have rocked it. The essense of these online competitions is not to make you guys spend a lot of money on your materials, and this photoshoot called for irregular makeup that most people do not keep in the house. It wasn't an impossible photoshoot--as you can clearly see, Dave has done fabulously--but I do think it was a particularly difficult shoot.

On the whole, your beauty shots were really pretty.

I miss the Ailsa I saw last week and the week before that, but I know she's not gone. n_n Sidetracked is all she is!

I agree and disagree with all of the judges about your photoshopping. It didn't think it was all too bad, and I sort of liked the fact that you made it look sorta like someone had torn away your synthetic skin and revealed the robot underneath. If you could have done that with actual makeup rather than photoshop.. Ding ding ding, WIN. Your idea was unique and awesome.. Just too bad it didn't work out the way we all would have liked.

If you could have done the same thing with makeup you really would have rocked it.

As far as your beauty shots go, they were really pretty and I did like them. :)

Dave
... WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN THIS CYCLE?! These were so good, Dave. I'm glad you seem to have gotten the fight back in you. The emotions were good, and STRONG, and I'm so proud of you, because the entire competition your main critique has been emotion. You still did the fierce Dave thing we all know and love.. But your smile melted my heart. <3

Your makeup was the best, because it was obvious but not crazy.

Again I do wanna say how sorry I am for this whole theme because a lot of it was my idea. ._.; I still think it's a great idea, but.. I do think that maybe we overreached a bit thinking that you would have the proper materials to make it happen the way we envisioned. For once, you as contestants and I as a judge share the blame. n_n;

I'm very proud of the three of you, though. You DID try.
