Summary: Jack takes Angela to a drive-in movie.
Angela jumps a little when the serial killer comes out of the closet, then snuggles in closer to me. I'd forgotten how effective watching scary movies at drive-in theatres could be, especially when your date is so engrossed in the film that she doesn't realize you aren't - usually because you're more engrossed in her.
Of course, it isn't all about the movie. How she gets to the movie plays a big part. I have to say that I am pretty good at this. Picking her up at noon on a Saturday in the Mini - my only car with a full front seat and the only one she has an endless supply of jokes for - then taking the scenic route halfway through Maryland to the nearest drive-in. Of course, I don't tell her where we're going, so this brings out another slew of jokes - these about me being the sweetest kidnapper she's ever had - but this is good, because it means she's laughing through the whole drive.
The movie choice does play a key role, though, I admit as she turns quickly to bury her face in my chest for an instant, only to turn back to the screen when the protaganist's name is called. I stifle a chuckle at her cliched reactions to the horror flick, and content myself with wrapping my arm a little tighter around her shoulders.
Now, Angela goes back to being deeply interested in the film. I'm sure she could give a detailed summary of the movie, but I couldn't even begin to say what it's about. I do know, however, that when she's sitting down, her legs bent to prop themselves up against my dashboard, she's shorter than me. And the shorts she's wearing provide me with all the evidence I need to know why she's that few inches taller than me, standing up.
"Jack," she says, and my eyes snap up from her figure to her face. "Shouldn't you be watching the movie?" she asks.
"Who's to say I'm not?" I banter back.
She smirks, and has a playful glimmer in her dark brown eyes. "You're staring." She's right and we both know it.
"What's your point?"
Angela turns her body to face me. "My point is that it's..." She pauses thoughtfully for a moment, leaning closer to me. "Distracting." Her last word is barely a whisper before she closes what little space there ever was between us to press her lips to mine. I kiss back immediately, using the arm that's already wrapped around her to pull her as close as possible. She has one hand at the back of head, playing with my hair, much in the same way her lips are playing with mine. Her other hand started at my knee, but has since moved.
She shivers when my hand, of it's own accord, slips under the light material of her shirt. Thank God for summer wear. This is when I break my lips from hers and starting trailing kisses down her jawline to her neck. She moans softly and I stop to murmur something in her ear: "Point taken."
