My first semester is complete! I get my weekends back and I get to sleep eight hours a night again. A few of the people I worked with really impressed me and I shocked myself by how much I was able to learn and accomplish in such a short time. Immediately starting this semester I could see that my HTML and CSS skills would come in handy and I was right, I had to build two websites.
I ordered a MacBook, it's shipping. I've had my laptop for four years and it's driving me crazy. The
MacBook Features are going to change my life. In particular, OMG new trackpad.
Now I need to build a good portfolio for myself. The things I did this semester are things that I want to show off and I bet that the future work I do at the iSchool and in my internships will be portfolio worthy. I gotta start looking for a nice template and hunt around Flickr Commons for a good photo.
This is the photo I frankensteined for my Information Architecture site. I basically took the horizontal middle third for it.
I'd also like to learn either PHP or JavaScript with a little bit of AJAX but I will probably wind up watching Star Trek instead.
What if there's a splash page to my portfolio?
My cruise was called off. It was hard enough for Mike to get time off and then the piggy flu forced Carnival to reroute to Jamaica. That would have been fine with me but it added two days to the trip and didn't involve the Mayan ruins that Mike was looking forward to.
