Lucien, are you all right?

[ooc: Have not laughed that hard in a long time XD]

Ah, Cain. Yes, quite alright. As long as I don't touch him or anything

[ You can see him sneaking a finger up and try to poke one of its tentacles. Mini-cthulhu snaps at finger! Loosh immediately draws finger back ]

As you can see...

[ooc: x3 This is what he was BORN to do, secret comic relief, rly~]

Yes, clearly they're prone to biting.

So you're obliged to wear it as a hat, then.

[amused eyebrow raise]

I have tried to, ehem, shake it off. But it seems that it has attached itself firmly to my head. I feel that it has quite some suckers underneath those tentacles, same as those of an octopus.

... and it does seem to behave itself. At times.

So long as you don't provoke it. It seems to almost enjoy causing you trouble, though. It has a certain look in its--well, I suppose they're eyes.

The chittering is somewhat irritating. But it is a good thing that it does it at intervals. I was partly woken by all the noise it made.

Yes, teeth for eyes. I am wondering if the Corinthian has something to do with... this.

I hope there is nothing of this sort skittering around there in the Opera House.

That sounds excessively tiresome, especially in the quiet of the library.

Honestly, it seems likely. Perhaps the truth will out.

I've not seen any but, unfortunately, it's early yet.

Indeed. But perhaps it will be... considerate. Hmm...

Hopefully there won't be.

How is your sister? And yes, your butler, Riff, as well. Did your search go without incident?

Given what I've seen so far, I rather doubt it.

They're both well, thank you. And it went very well, though faster than I expected. Everything came together in a rush, and I thought it would be best to go ahead and fetch him then rather than wait another moment. He was injured, but he's healing well now.

[The thing, it laughs as if to prove Cain's point. Lucien sighs instead. ]

Ah, well done. Who was the one who accompanied you in your search?

Faster than you expected? Were you expecting a lot of interference from your father? Or the monster underground, perhaps? Because I've heard it is quite a challenge with all those roaming monsters underneath.

Greed, actually. I posted a request on the Network for anyone who could act as a guide through the Underground, and he volunteered. He's helped me before, so I took him up on his offer.

Both, actually. I'd expected to have to go twice: once to locate him and another time to retrieve him. But, as it happened, there were fewer guards than I'd expected.

Although, for all that was good, it makes me suspicious as well, as though they were done with him and wanted me to come and take him back.

Greed? Hm, he does seem like an indestructible fellow.

... you are right. If your father does mean to hurt you, letting Riff go that easily does sound a tad suspicious. Has he been acting odd lately around your or your sister?

He is--I've proof of that.

[Private || Unhackable]
They caught him and turned him loose before. I wonder if this isn't the same idea, just a bit of toying with me. I'm still suspicious, though.

No, he's seemed himself so far as I can tell.

I see. Then I guess you need not be warned to be careful, still. Until you confirm your suspicions, that is. Though... well, you know him best? How long has he been with you?

Has your sister noticed anything?

I know. I'm seeking out the truth even now. But he's been in my employ--mine, more or less--since I was ten years old. I should hope I'd know him best.

She hasn't said anything if she has. I would assume she'd say something if she did.

But you've more to worry yourself with than think about my situation, you know. You've that...thing on your head, after all.

A long time, indeed. Mm. I trust you will be able to discern the truth. But I do hope that you and I are just imagining things...

... it is not easily rid of. But if it doesn't do anything, hm, harmful, I... guess it could perch.

I think.
