Shaw captures Erik and has his way with him, mentally and physically, causing terrible amount of (additional) trauma in all possible ways. He's eventually found/rescued and put in a hospital/mental hospital. Charles takes care of him, and in the mean time goes after Shaw, teaching him just HOW BAD AN IDEA IT IS TO MESS WITH A TELEPATH'S LOVER.
