“No, I can only stay for a few weeks. But I’ll return before the baby is born.”
Charles choked on his strawberry tart.
“No to insult your man-hood or whatever,” Raven continued over her brother’s coughing. “But how do you know that you’ll actually conceive in that short amount of time? Some couples it takes years and as you can see my brother is male, so I’m not expecting it will be easy to tell when he ‘fertile’.”
His suit was suddenly feeling really stuffy so he tugged at his collar. Charles had a feeling he was bright red, he could probably pass as Azazel’s brother. In fact he would rather be Azazel’s brother right now because he looked just as shocked by the flow of conversation as Charles was.
Erik either ignored his new husbands discomfort or didn’t notice. “Ahh, there is that. I’ve requested that a doctor come to stay with Charles to monitor his progress on that front. He already has some interesting ideas on how Charles’s uterus works.” Erik finally looked at Charles; he seemed to be surprised by the state Charles was in. “You’ll be happy to know he is a mutual friend of ours.”
Charles tried to ignore his discomfort, setting his dish aside as his hands searched for something to fiddle with that didn’t make such a racket. He ended up twirling his wedding band around on his finger. “Oh?”
“Dr. Hank McCoy. He is a trusted friend to both of us and the Empire. I asked him this as a personal favor and he was happy to agree.”
Charles picked up on Raven’s anger as soon as the Doctors name was mentioned. She had no problem with Charles still being friends with Hank, but he knew that she didn’t want to see the man after their rather messy break up. And now the guy would be living with them for the foreseeable future by her brother-in-law’s request. It was sort of rude for Erik not to have at least asked.
“Will he be arriving soon? I should inform Puet that we will be having another guest.” Charles made to stand up except Erik waved him down.
“I already told him once I received McCoy’s reply last night.”
“That’s…nice of you.” Charles replied. He had really been hoping to escape for a second.
Raven watched Charles and Erik with narrowed eyes. Erik was carefully blank and it didn’t take a mind reader to see that her brother was silently freaking out. Trying to relieve the tension she turned to the other man sitting silently watching them all exchange conversation. “Azazel, will you be staying long?”
“No, I’m afraid not. I will head back to the troops tomorrow. But don’t pine for me mon cheri, I will return in two weeks to pick up Magneto.”
Raven just sneered at him.
For the next few long minutes, no one said anything. Raven and Erik eating their cake, while the teleporter tried juggling his silverware with his tail. Charles found himself staring off into space.
“A toast?” Erik asked, breaking the silence and pulling everyone’s attention towards him.
Charles accepted his glass, privately wondering if this would be the last time he’d get to taste alcohol for a long while. His head full of images of his belly huge with child and Hank trying to explain to Erik how exactly one got Charles Xavier pregnant.
“To new beginnings.” Erik raised his glass, looking at Charles with a twinkle in his eye.
“To new beginnings.” Charles choked out, hoping he was drowned out by Raven and Azazel.
If anyone noticed Charles drained his drink faster than usual they were kind enough not to mention it.

Note: I'm not really sure if Azazel is Russian or what, but the french is just to pester Raven. This was a long chapter, I had trouble making things 'just' awkward enough with the added bonus of Erik's odd affection and Charles's bewildered acceptance of it. I hope I hit it right. Warnings for next chapters will be on the heading.
