If you asked Aeris very far ahead, what her plans were--even she wouldn't have been able to predict very accurately, what she was going to do. Especially not on an island such as this.
She'd actually gone to the garden earlier, but restlessness drove her to wander instead. She was unused to the crimson dress that the clothes box had given her at Morgan's request, but it was crisp and new, and went along with the emerald ribbon she had found for her hair.
Still, it was less suited to tromping around the island in, so she chose to explore the Compound further. As often happened, she did not get very far, before she noticed Zack in the kitchen.
Grinning, she wandered in, waving brightly. "Sneaking lunch?"
"I liked the pink one." He'd never seen the pink one before Tabula Rasa in honesty. "But I could learn to like this one too," he added with a smile. He was liking it a lot at the moment.
He took her hand and pulled her close to him, being more bold than usual. His heart pounding in his chest and in his head. "You look beautiful," he said, looking her in the eyes. His tone still playful, but with a hint of being serious.
She grinned. "This one is nicer than the other dress! It's not ripped for one thing."
The pink dress was mostly just sentimental. A dress worth adventuring in. But this island demanded other things than an adventure. There would be no random wandering creatures to fight here. She had to adapt, whether she'd planned on it or not.
"Well there's that," he agreed. "So is this a permanent change?" He felt a little under dressed in his SOLDIER uniform. Almost unworthy of the girl in front of him. It was all in his head.
Zack thought maybe he should get his own hut because he couldn't imagine getting much sleep lying a few feet away from her.
"They probably will now too." He smiled. Part of him wanted to say that he loved her. Every time he saw her a part of him wanted to just be honest and deal with the situation. But the other part of him still worried that she'd just push him back or shrug it off and he'd be left in the same state he already was. Or worse. There was always the possibility that she'd tell him she had felt that way about him, but he'd died. And she'd moved on and didn't want to go back.
He'd be crushed if that happened and he had to deal with all of this thinking about Angeal and his past. His mind set his body back into the action of gathering lunch to bring back to the dojo.
She skipped around the counter, lifting two fingers in a pinching motion. "Just a little bit! I'm still getting used to this new dress." She giggled, then. "I could never wear this with AVALANCHE. It doesn't like to move at all."
You're a little more important than my sword. But just a little. He shook his head, not wanting to hear Angeal at the moment.
He didn't know that dresses had a like or dislike or any preference to moving. "I'm sorry it's uncooperative."
He thought for a moment that maybe the dress was just like its owner. That would definitely make it uncooperative, but beautiful and impossible, but cheerful. He wondered if dresses could be cheerful.
"So what have you been up to then other than exploring just a little bit?"

"Wow. Uh ... That's new." It was all he could manage for the moment as his blood pressure went up.

She smiled lightly, glancing down at the dress, and doing a slow twirl. "A friend found it for me! I suppose I can't wear the pink one forever."

"Have you done any exploring today?"
