Comment with any ship (romantic or platonic or maybe even non-existent!) from a fandom that you know I have some knowledge about, and I will rant about aforementioned ship. This may be incoherent gushing or exclamations of disgust, depending on your ship of choice.
I like them! I really do! I don't quite love them, I'm sad to say (it's been a long time since I've watched Buffy and Angel so my memory of all but the latest seasons is kinda fuzzy, sadly), but! I do like them a lot. I like how Cordy calls him on his bullshit, including his angsting, when it's bullshit. I like how strong she became-- or the strength she found she had all along-- for having the Scoobies in her life, and later, Angel Investigations. I love her loyalty to him, in spite of the fact that she knows even if he does love her for who she is, there will always be the specter of Buffy, to speak nothing of his vampirism and the whole Gypsy curse and Angelus. I love that she believes in him more than anyone, even when he stops believing in himself, even when the rest of the team starts to doubt him.
Looking back, I'm frustrated at times with Angel, honestly, for the times when he accepted she was no longer part of his life, like when she 'ascended'. It's perfectly in character for him to push people he loves away, to 'let go' to give them the life he believes they deserve (see also Connor), but it does frustrate me and make me wonder if they could ever really have made it work.
So, I guess, on reflection... I love how Cordy feels about and acts towards Angel, but I less love how Angel feels about and acts towards Cordy, though I do appreciate the ways in which his place in her life did make her better?
