6th Dream//Admission and A Prayer?

The eyes are not here
There are no eyes here
In this valley of dying stars
In this hollow valley
This broken jaw of our lost kingdoms

Morpheus-san... please don't apologize. I know far too well the consequences of losing strength.

Is there anything that can be done? Anything at all?

I wish I had an answer for that question.

The simple fact of the matter is that I had assumed I would discover the gem long since, but perhaps underestimated the City.
All that can be done, presently, I am attempting.

Perhaps it would be prudent to visit the temple within a fortnight....

...if you do not find this gem, what will happen to you?

...I will fade until I am trapped within the gem itself, wherever it may be, quite conscious of my surroundings, but for all intents and purposes; blind, deaf and dumb.

...that is one of the most terrible things I've heard. Worse than death.

Is there any way I could help you? Perhaps there are people here with powers that can be used to locate things?

Possibly, but that is a double-edged blade.
Whomever has possession of the gem at present is not aware of it's potential, nor it's nature.
At least, I do not believe they do.

You see, such a thing is detrimental to mortals. Dreams, and nightmares are untrustworthy, but exceedingly powerful.
Once, some time ago, in another world, a mortal ....came into posession of one of the dreamstones.
In his ignorance, he altered it's power...And nearly tore both the Waking, and the Dreaming apart.

In comparison, my own predicament seems quite small in the face of the possibility of the gem being used.

I do thank you for your concern, but it is my responsibility. It would be unfair to ask others to share the burden.

I do not think I'll ever understand why people put so much power in tiny things. This gem, the Hougyoku...

Unfair, perhaps, but you did not ask. I offered. I will not step on either pride or responsibility, however.

Either way, do not worry about your job at the tea shop, Morpheus-san.

It is human nature to disregard size in matters of power.
I assure you, some of the worst atrocities ever committed started as a rather insignificant event.

....Thank you.

And....perhaps it is an effect of exaustion, but might I ask you a question;
Why is it that so many beings wish to do this?
Why ever would you wish to do this?

You do not know me well, and I must admit to not understanding entirely.

So have I. I simply mean they are so much easier lost.

Why we wish to help others? I might not know you, Morpheus-san, but it's not in my personality to ignore when someone is in trouble. Even if it's only a good word, I'll do my best.

....A noble sentiment, but in not knowing whom it is you 'help', how can you be sure they are 'good' people?

There is much danger in this philosophy, Ukitake-dono.

...I'm well aware of that, Morpheus-san. I've made my mistakes among the centuries.
Yet I'd rather help someone and then realize my mistake, than not help someone that might have needed it.

Dangerous, perhaps... but I've always thought it's worth it. Mistakes can often be corrected, but turning away from someone cannot.

.....Yes, I suppose you're right.

Forgive me, it has been a long-held practice of mine to take pains not to involve others.

I understand.

But never involving others will make you lonely.
