Fighting a War
So I know I haven't updated in ages but it's not like anyone reads my shit anyway right?
This past weekend has been stressful...and there's more to come this weekend! To some it may seem that I've dropped off the face of the earth-sorry! I've been busy fighting a war. I've been spending my free time at Newark Memorial High School in Fremont because they opened the play The Laramie Project and Fred Phelps is scheduled to be there protesting this Saturday. (For those of you that don't know, Fred Phelps is the King of the anti-gay movement and runs a very well known anti-gay website.) Anyway, last weekend there were protesters there and I ended up having a two and a half hour debate with one of them. I think I got home around 2 am. Last weekend was kind of a training for when Phelps comes. I'm taking part in an Angel Protest which basically entails me standing with a bunch of other people in front of Fred Phelps and his gang, silently taking his slanderous talk and comments that I'm going to hell...they even warned that he likes to spit. It could last hours, but I'm prepared.
I'm excited...It's been a while since the activist in me has had a chance to shine...
But here I am fighting a war... it feels damn good to fight for what I believe in.
