Getting What I Paid For

Since I'm in the midst of redecorating my apartment, and decided that having curtains would be a whole lot nicer than the standard mini-blinds. And, since I'm a huge cheap-ass, I thought it would be a good idea to make the curtains myself. So, today I bought some curtain rods, hooks and this fabulous sage-colored burlap, for only 99 cents a yard. I bought a whole $12 dollars worth, and hurried back to my apartment to start work on my new project. The whole time, as I was screwing the rod anchors to the wall, I was smiling, giggling with glee about how beautiful and hip my new sage-colored burlap curtains would look, how well they would blend with the walls and my new Egyptian cotton bed sheets, not to mention how proud I was as to how little time and money I had spent. I clipped the burlap onto the hooks, and attached them to the rods. I placed the rods onto the anchors; my new curtains were complete. I stepped back to compliment myself on my work, only to realize that I was now the proud owner of the ugliest, tackiest, most ghetto curtains in the world.
