Fandom: Pokémon
Pairing: Bashou and Buson
Theme set: Alpha
Rating: PG-13 for some sexin' and some violence and other stuff that wouldn't be on the show (unless I was running it, but I digress)

#01 - Comfort

The closest they ever got to public affection was a brief kiss, but Bashou knew that Buson needed something more after what had happened to his Skarmory, so he sat next to his partner and slowly slid his arm around the taller man's shoulders, pulling him close in a loose half-hug.

#02 - Kiss

It was a rough kiss, the kind that come from rogues in adventure movies, but neither seemed to care, lost in the moment before breaking at the same time, and of course Buson couldn't help, once he had caught his breath, asking Bashou if he'd practiced on his Steelix, so of course Bashou flicked him on the forehead.

#03 - Soft

For all the things he did to it to create that bizarre puffed and spiked form, Bashou's hair was soft as a feather, and Buson loved to run his fingers through it when his partner was asleep; something Bashou would never allow during their waking hours.

#04 - Pain

It wasn't every day an agent could spar with the Iron Mask Marauder and get out with just a busted arm, but Bashou still didn't feel like much of a winner as he ordered Buson, for the fourth time in as many minutes, to get his damn shoes laced, but Buson only snorted sarcastically and told him "You're such a little princess."

#05 - Potatoes

"Honestly now," Bashou muttered with a roll of his eyes, "will you stop using that 'I'm a growing boy' excuse; you're twenty-fucking-seven!" he reminded Buson as the latter stuffed his face with more french fries from the executive cafeteria.

#06 - Rain

The rain wept from the sky over the city of Viridian, as it was wont to do; and the agents, in their offduty casual outfits that didn't look quite right on either, ran to the shelter of the Pokémon Center, gleefully living dangerously as the resident Joy creased her brow and flipped through her Most Wanted notebook again.

#07 - Chocolate

"It's from one of my admirers, want one?" Bashou asked, waving a caramel piece in front of his partner, who eagerly took the chocolate in his mouth and sucked along the side, his tongue familiar against Bashou's fingers.

#08 - Happiness

"And so I am pleased to inform you that, due to your performance on the Gengar mission, you are hereby promoted to Silver rank," the captain said, patting both agents on the shoulder and cracking a rare smile, which Buson mirrored, watching Bashou out of the corner of his eye with a shine on his dark glasses.

#09 - Telephone

When the phone rang in the middle of the night, both men knew it was going to be about a mission, and no matter what they were doing, they had to drop everything, untangle from each other, and answer it.

#10 - Ears

"Quit it," Bashou muttered as Buson blew on his ear, "you're being annoying, and annoying boys get nowhere with me," and with that, Buson stopped.

#11 - Name

Neither had ever asked the other for any name other than the ones they introduced themselves as, although they both knew they were nothing but code names, manufactured to represent their closeness, after the legendary poets and their own ancient bond.

#12 - Sensual

It was the best feeling in the world; better than sex, better than a capture, better than anything; to pull the uniforms on as second skins, to feel the soft fabric that marked them as Elite officers, to proclaim to the world that they were above so many others; it was as though they had the mark of gods about them, the mark of the crimson R.

#13 - Death

"It's either this, or be captured," Bashou whispered, drawing the gun from its holster and pressing the barrel to the back of Buson's head; and the blond man nodded and closed his eyes, knowing there was only one bullet.

#14 - Sex

The greatest eroticism, of course, lay in their rank; the fact that they were so much better than the average agent, and they thought of this every time they joined; it was true, to them, that power is indeed the greatest aphrodisiac.

#15 - Touch

Bashou's touch was surprisingly soft, given his emotionless facade, as he ran his long-fingered hand down Buson's face, toying with the arm of the taller man's everpresent sunglasses with a calculated slowness.

#16 - Weakness

It was a terrible thing for an officer to have a weakness; if the enemy had even a faint hint, they would not hesitate to exploit it; and Bashou and Buson had the same weakness--their loyalty to each other.

#17 - Tears

"You know exactly what caused it--your damn Muk!" Bashou bit back, dabbing at his usually cold eyes with a tissue; oh how he despised having allergies.

#18 - Speed

Bashou prized himself at being fast--he ran faster than 99% of the Team, and in close combat he was known for his rapid blows, his quick kicks, and his lighting-fast reflexes--so people always questioned why he trained something as slow as a Steelix.

#19 - Wind

The wind picked up rapidly and the two had to take shelter in the caves that dotted the mountain, and, as luck would have it, they came across a nest of rare Clefairy.

#20 - Freedom

Being an officer was less restrictive than being a grunt, but any screwups were punished more severely, so it was give and take.

#21 - Life

It was a hard road to walk, the life of a Rocket, but neither of them would ever give it up, not for the world itself; which was, ironically, their goal.

#22 - Jealousy

"Another new partner?" Buson repeated in his thoughts, wondering why Shiranui couldn't remember him, but could remember Bashou.

#23 - Hands

The hands that could choke the life from someone, that could order a brutal attack, that could deliver solid blows at blinding speed, those hands were at present tracing a soft, lazy line down Buson's inner thigh.

#24 - Taste

"Blueberry," Buson guessed, licking the syrup off the corners of his mouth and wishing he could take the damn blindfold off, as Bashou stuck the fork in the center of the remaining pancake and whispered "Wrong," but licked a small tendril of syrup from Buson's chin anyway.

#25 - Devotion

It was only fate, or the whims of the higher-ups, that had brought them together, but their loyalty to each other was greater even than their loyalty to Giovanni.

#26 - Forever

They thought they would be together forever, they thought their partnership would last through each and every thing they would face, but as the guards led them out of the courtroom to seperate prisons, they could think of nothing to say to each other, so they stared, drinking in the sight of each other and knowing that they would never see each other again.

#27 - Blood

For all of his tough-guy facade, Buson hated the sight of blood, even that of his enemies, and as he walked away from his fallen opponent, the smell of it made him vaguely sick.

#28 - Sickness

It spread through them like an illness, that feeling of utter failure that wrenched them from the gut and refused to let go, haunting them with the image of the spirit of thunder that they had failed to obtain and failed the Team in the process.

#29 - Melody

Neither could remember the name of the tune or why they held such strong feelings for those few notes--perhaps it had played during their first mission together, or maybe some passing agent had hummed it when they first met--but it was the closest they came to having what other couples called "our song".

#30 - Star

"If that star's always north, then we should go this way," Buson reasoned, looking at the night sky with his sunglasses still on, while Bashou attempted in vain to contact the base, finally pocketing the phone with a disgusted sharp motion.

#31 - Home

Like most agents, they lived on base; their small apartment wasn't much, but it was consideribly better than the barracks they had to squeeze into when they were grunts.

#32 - Confusion

"Skarmory, use Swagger!" Buson commanded, and the steel bird landed in front of the massive iron snake and began to strut; and the Steelix shook its head, enraged and yet utterly confused, and off to the side, Bashou cursed the day he'd ever gotten Buson those TMs.

#33 - Fear

Bashou had one fear in life, and it was illness--the betrayal of his own body, the rebellion from within; it was a petrifying phobia, but Buson would tell no one.

#34 - Lightning/Thunder

"The damn Raikou...we had it!" Buson snarled, beating his fist against the wall again and again until the metal started to give, as Bashou calmly, but with equal anger and self-loathing at his own weakness, sent the message of their failure to Shiranui.

#35 - Bonds

The closest bonds, as they say, are bonds forged under fire, and the lives of Silver agents certainly qualified, putting their lives on the line nearly every day.

#36 - Market

"So what does Shiranui have us doing this week?" Buson asked as Bashou read over the order again and again, but of course the words didn't change, so he turned back to his partner and said "He has us...buying a plant for his office..."

#37 - Technology

Buson always liked going to the lab, although his professional facade made showing joy impossible; he loved the feel of being surrounded by powerful things, which was probably why he liked Bashou so much too.

#38 - Gift

"How's your eyes doing, any better?" Bashou asked, and Buson shook his head, to which Bashou put a small box in his partner's hands, which felt around the sides before opening it, revealing dark sunglasses.

#39 - Smile

Bashou didn't smile often, but when he did, it was a sure sign of trouble; his smile was the sign that he was eager, and an eager Bashou was never a good thing, except to Buson.

#40 - Innocence

It was nothing special, Bashou noted to himself, that they had met as children, years before the Rockets would claim them both; merely a coincidence; after all, they were different people then, innocent in the ways of the world that they would grow to control.

#41 - Completion

The end of a successful mission was always something that Buson liked to celebrate in his own way, which could mean anything from a drink on his own to a bit of slap-and-tickle with Bashou, which Bashou always tried to get him to do in private, but of course nothing Buson did was within his partner's boundaries.

#42 - Clouds

"I think that one looks like my Steelix," Bashou mused, pointing at the passing fluff, and Buson didn't have the heart to tell him that one, Steelix are pointy, and two, it wasn't a cloud, it was an Altaria.

#43 - Sky

Since the mission required no equipment, they decided to fly there on Buson's Skarmory, the metal bird soaring through the skies with ease, and Buson's hands sliding around Bashou's waist to hold him in place.

#44 - Heaven

"Say Bashou?" Buson asked one night as they were getting ready for bed, "What do you think about the future?"; and Bashou shook his head and said "Only that our work will change the world, that this place will be a paradise when the Rockets are in power," and Buson nodded after a beat and turned off the light.

#45 - Hell

The gavel came down with the judge's proclamation, dividing the two agents in the way that they thought only death could do; and Buson had only a moment to grab Bashou by the arm and say "This is hell, isn't it?", answered by the smaller man's detached nod.

#46 - Sun

One time, Buson had gotten Bashou a pair of sunglasses like his own, but Bashou never wore them, and on a day that bright, he wished he did.

#47 - Moon

The night before a mission was always quiet as the two went over mission plans; taking a break, Bashou went to the window, and made an offhand comment about how low the moon was in the sky that night.

#48 - Waves

They lay on the Seafoam beach sunning themselves side by side, neither saying anything, and listening to the sound of the waves and everpresent people, people who had no idea who the young men were or why they should be feared.

#49 - Hair

"I'm telling you," Buson said, holding up a thin book open about halfway, "it's called a Zigzagoon, and they live all over Hoenn;" and Bashou glared at him before turning back to the mirror and taking another bottle of hairspray to his distinctive locks.

#50 - Supernova

They were told to shut the door, which they did, and the dark room filled with bursts of light from the middle, the new experiment that they were to field test which was supposed to attract bug types but was far too beautiful to waste on mere pokémon; Buson thought it was almost romantic, a thought Bashou would have ignored outwardly but agreed with in secret.
