Other Note: I actually wrote these a long time ago, but I was going to fix the ones I hated...but since I still haven't got around to that, I decided to just post them. Thanks to jessieheart for looking them over. This was my first time writing Death Note so be kind. ♥
1. Walking
She walks along the street, staring straight ahead, pays no attention to the crowd; there is one thing on her mind, and it's not the person she would have expected.
2. Waltz
Dancing in a circle, each holding the hands of the other two, she couldn't shake the fact that his felt somehow nicer than her boyfriend's.
3. Wishes
She once longed for Raito to touch her; now, that wish has come true, and as he breaks her even further, she turns, closes her eyes, and regrets.
4. Wonder
She found herself wondering, as he devoured the cake, if he was just as passionate with his...other appetites.
5. Worry
She watches him from the shadows, and her womanly instincts can't keep her from worrying; it comes as a shock when he turns and says, not unkindly, that she shouldn't be awake this late.
6. Whimsy
He sees her as a child, capricious and silly; does he know that she thinks the same of him?
7. Waste/Wasteland
In the end, she tells Raito silently, it will be just you and him, and I won't be here to help you.
8. Whiskey and Rum
It burns her throat, but she gulps it down anyway, but a cold hand catches her wrist as she reaches for the bottle.
9. War
One uses her to help make the world, the other as a trick to catch the criminal--when this goes down in the history books, Misa will be known as a tool, nothing more than a pawn.
10. Weddings
Imagine the thought--her standing at the altar in an elegant white gown, while he slouches in the plain shirt and wrinkled jeans (barefoot, of course), she lets out a bark of laughter--imagine!
11. Birthday
Raito scoffs and turns back to his work, but L insists that they should accompany her to the grave site.
12. Blessing
"Be with her if you want," she whispers, feet teetering on the edge, "I, too, will be with the one I really love."
13. Bias
Once, he remarked that he didn't think Raito was her type--she hid her blush and snapped that it wasn't his relationship to worry about.
14. Burning
It is late in the night when she chooses to shower, and with the hot water running down her body, she reaches her climax; it is a private performance for the one she knows is the only person watching at this hour.
15. Breathing
The kiss is...strong, to say the least, and almost suffocating, and as she pulls away she sighs against his lips.
16. Breaking
"Don't try to comfort me!" she snaps, swatting the hand away, "You're the same as him."
17. Belief
She clings to him, but although it is L's too-thin body that takes hers, it is her God's name that she cries--it isn't cheating, after all, if she uses sex as her means of worship.
18. Balloon
There is a moment of awkward quiet after he catches her in mid-fall; she stares down at his hands, cupped around her breasts, before pulling away with a high-pitched scream and the accusation that "he's trying to molest me again!"
19. Balcony
He is not the type that would normally be in her romantic fantasies, but she let's herself dream, and it is surprisingly easy to imagine him climbing the side of that tower and carrying her away.
20. Bane
She glares at the chain that connects them, complaining that it interferes with her "Raito time"; unseen by by the younger man, she and L share an almost guilty glance.
21. Quiet (Continuation of 15. "Breathing".)
"Sorry, Ryuzaki--" (Don't be.) "--let's not speak of this, okay?"
22. Quirks
She slaps his hand away from his mouth with a frown, "That is annoying."
23. Question
She changes her position for the hundreth time, sighing up at the ceiling, "Misa," Rem says softly, "you are beginning to worry me."
24. Quarrel
She is brighter, somehow, when they are bickering about silly things, and he finds that he also enjoys the playful arguments.
25. Quitting
"Don't you dare," she says, her sobs halting immediately, and he tilts her chin so that she meets his eyes, "Do I have the same promise from you?"
26. Jump
"Wow, you really are hyper," she says, smiling as she sits beside him (not removing her hand), "I thought you would have seen that coming."
27. Jester
She laughs along with his antics, knowing all the while that this relationship is as fake as the one she has with Raito.
28. Jousting
"Um, before, when you were fighting Raito--" he is staring at her with wide eyes, and she blushes, turning away, "--never mind."
29. Jewel
Loved by gods and mortal men alike; so why is that these two do not see what you really are?
30. Just
She holds her hand to her heart, standing silent amongst the rading crowd, watching as he dies; she wants to turn, look at the man who, ironically, holds her steady; wants to ask the question on her mind: "Why not me, too?"
31. Smirk
He pauses, his bare foot already halfway up her leg; after sneaking a glance at her boyfriend, she smiles, a tiny twitch of her lips, and he resumes.
32. Sorrow
She sees him, even now, watching her through the mirror; he watches as she collpases into tears.
33. Stupidity
L is the first to speak, Misa still staring in horror at the results of the pregnancy test, and he is irritatingly cheerful about it, "This is an unexpected setback...I wonder how you'll hide it."
34. Serenade
She holds him down, resting his head on her lap, singing quietly until he finally falls asleep.
35. Sarcasm
"I would never touch my good friend's girlfriend--" Misa is the only one who detects the sarcasm, and not because of any difference in his tone.
36. Sordid
It feels wrong to watch them, her beloved Misa pushing the man down to her bed, and he choosing not to resist (Who would? Rem asks herself), but this is what Misa wants, it's what "turns her on", she said, and so the shinigami does not look away.
37. Soliloquy
"Yes," the detective mused, "I think I would have no choice but to hit that," Misa glared, suddenly wishing she'd covered up a bit more, "You said that outloud, you know!"
38. Sojourn
He warns her, again, that this situation is temporary, and she assures him, again that she knows; she is not as stupid as he thinks.
39. Share
At first, it was L that she considered the intruder; later, she would go out of her way to anny Raito, in hopes that he would leave them alone, if only for a little while.
40. Solitary
"You have been allowed a visitor," the guard grunted; Misa squinted in the sudden bright light, too weak to turn away.
41. Nowhere
Nothingness is not so bad, she thinks, and tightens her hold on his hand.
42. Neutral
This it, then; you can't walk away, there's no stopping the ride--you got yourself into this, little girl.
43. Nuance
"You're looking better this morning," she says, her smile the first sight to greet him when he wakes (a different smile than usual, he notices), "So do you, Misa-chan."
44. Near
"Well, she is a whore!" Mello says, "Don't tell me you weren't thinking--" the other boy cuts him off with a cold glare.
45. Natural
Resting against his chest as they lay beneath the blankets, listening to the beating of his heart, Misa realizes how scared she was...but she isn't now.
46. Horizon
Off she stars, into the bright setting sun (you'll go blind, a voice reminds her) It doesn't matter, she thinks; the reds and golds change to blues and violets, then melt into black.
47. Valiant
"I think," L interjects, a hand patting her on the arm, "Misa was being very courageous."
48. Virtuous
She was cute, that was certain, and had a way of bringing happiness into ever room (even if certain people didn't notice it), and, most endearing, she stood by her values, not wavering once.
49. Victory
The day Misa finally got L to sit like a normal person, she climbed into his lap and declared her victory with a kiss on the cheek.
50. Defeat
Chains rattle; he can see a flash of red and white (her smile) as she pulls him up from the stone floor; "He said I could play with you," she hisses into his ear.
