Ooo. This is my first time posting some writing-stuff outside of my own journal. *nervous* And this was the first 50-sentence set I ever did. So there is rather blatant abuse of semi-colons and so on. Eheh. These are sentences regarding the two protagonists of my novel-thang. Yep. And Aeron's brother = evil dude, by the way. Hope you enjoy! And now, enough with my rambling and on to the sentences...

1. Walking
When they walk together, either from the practice field or along the seashore or down the halls of Goldriver Estate, she feels that she is in the presence of greatness, and by association, she is great as well.

3. Wishes
When she was a little girl, she had wished for a knight in shining armor to fall in love with her and take her to a great castle; he had no armor (having grown out of his long ago and never bothered to order a new set), but he was all the brave and wonderful and chivalrous knight she could ever wish for.

4. Wonder
She wondered whatever had made him choose her to stand beside him for the rest of his life: she was only a half-noble thief, after all; he had laughed and kissed her and told her that the moment he first saw her, he knew that she was all he had ever wanted.

5. Worry (Goes with #38 - Sojourn)
He worried for her terribly when she was away, and prayed to every god he knew that she would come home safely-and then stopped, and shook his head at himself, and wondered why he cared so terribly much.

8. Whiskey and Rum
Their second Midwinter together was spent in the palace-they couldn’t have a real celebration, not like last year, but instead sneaked off together and hid in a small dark room they had well-stocked with liquor earlier; when he kissed her his breath smelled of fire-whiskey from the North.

9. War

10. Weddings
Their wedding was not the stuff dreams were made of; it was lost amidst the bustle of the Coronation and was more of an afterthought-but her dear friends and family were there (though hiding), and when she saw the bliss, and joy, and love in her husband’s eyes, she knew that she could not ask for more.

11. Birthday
When he was a child, the day of his birth had always been celebrated with great pomp and circumstance; now, it passed while they were traveling, and all the only celebrating took place in a little inn in a little town, with her dancing with him and telling him she loved him-and it was the best birthday he had ever had.

12. Blessing
He was the greatest blessing she had ever been given-more than succeeding in thieving in safety, more than the love in her sister’s embrace, more than the pride in her father’s face; the warmth of him beside her every night, the simple happiness in waking up to a kiss-she thanked the gods for them, for him, every day.

13. Bias
At first her obvious hatred for all members of the nobility amused him, but then it began to worry him, and he set about proving her wrong, at least about him-and the first time she smiled at him with her gold eyes glowing and teased him with no true mockery in her voice, he felt the warm glow of satisfaction.

14. Burning
While her home was being burned to the ground miles and miles away, her mind and body were being set afire as well-who would have guessed that one night of dancing, a beautiful starlit sky, and one short word would change everything so much?

He could feel her chest heaving up and down with every sobbing breath she took; he clasped her burned hands to his lips and pulled her close to him, holding her until she stopped shuddering and her breath and heartbeat matched his own.

16. Breaking

17. Belief

18. Balloon
She sucked in a great amount of water that made her cheeks billow out like two little balloons, and looked at him with wickedness in her eyes-he stirred with wariness, and ended up leaping up and yelling and cursing like a fishwife when the water wound up all over his shirt.

19. Balcony
He stood on one of the balconies of Goldriver and watched her play with her sister, her black hair gleaming in the sunlight and her laughter echoing off the garden walls; he had never felt so at peace-until she looked up and beamed at him, and his tranquility was shattered by the sudden thunder of his heart.

20. Bane
“You are the bane of my existence,” he told her, teasing; but he saw the flash of hurt in her eyes, hidden quickly by a tight smile-and when she turned away and walked from him he chased after her, catching her arm and swearing to her he had only been jesting, even though in a way that was a lie too.

21. Quiet
The silence of the night is broken by the whisper of skin against skin, and soft calls and cries; he whispers for her to hush, but she cannot; and moments later he can no longer blame her without hypocrisy.

22. Quirks
She can always tell when he is sardonically amused (which is often, especially if one of the Court nobles is speaking): his right brow jerks up and a smirk flits across his face; within a moment it is gone, but she has seen it and she smiles.

23. Question
Before they entered the dancehall, he looked at her with a question in his eyes; she took his arm and smiled at him and let that be her answer.

24. Quarrel
When they fought-admittedly not as often as others, but still too often for his taste-whether she had won or not, she would always stalk off in fury and leave him alone, and then he would always feel as if he had lost.

25. Quitting
She had never allowed herself to give up on anything, always fighting to the end and never letting anyone or anything get the best of her, but when she saw him walking towards her for the first time in months, she felt like turning around and running without ever looking back to see if he might follow.

26. Jump
Her sister easily leaps off the tree into her waiting arms, secure in the knowledge that she would be caught and held; he cannot help but remember that his own brother would have let him fall.

27. Jester
All the fools and jesters the royal court had to offer could not make him laugh as easily as she could with a single word.

28. Jousting
A young soldier was killed in a tournament in the first year of their reign and afterwards she had all tournaments outlawed; he saw her standing over the body of the handsome young man with her face white and drawn and knew she was envisioning him lying there in the soldier’s place-her hand when he took it and squeezed was cold as ice.

29. Jewel
She was the daughter of a jeweller, and they called her Gem-Raven, but to him she would always be his very own jewel and the treasure of his heart.

30. Just
“Just” they called him, and it was true-he always stood on the side of Justice, no matter who was on the other side; and the day she saw him presiding over the case of a minor nobleman who had raped eight “common” girl-children without ever being punished for it she understood why.

31. Smirk
Both he and his brother have an uncannily similar smirk, and the first time-after-he does it she turns pale and starts to shake, remembering; but soon she is calmed by seeing no cruelty in his smile and only warmth in his soft green eyes.

32. Sorrow
He had never heard anyone weeping in such sorrow as she did that day beside the peach tree; it was enough to make his own heart break for her and he desperately wanted to hold her and promise her that it would be all right, that he would make everything better-but all he could do was hold her and whisper in his mind I love you, I love you, I love you.

33. Stupidity
He roundly curses himself for being a fool to attempt to kiss her that night after the Midwinter ball, calling himself the biggest idiot in the kingdom, nay, in the entire known world; it is a long, long time before she proves him wrong.

34. Serenade
He loves hearing her play her flute, especially after they were married for she found less and less time to do so, making it a special, secret, almost guilty pleasure; there was another world waiting there for him, made up of soft notes and trilling melodies and quiet beauty.

35. Sarcasm
In the beginning nearly all her words dripped with harsh and biting sarcasm, but as time drew on and she thawed it came less and less, until her sardonic side virtually disappeared at last-something he was profoundly grateful for.

36. Sordid
In her life she has seen many men pawing at their wenches in dark corners of the Underworld, and even while she wished for something different (less-less dirty) she never really expected it; this is why she is so surprised when all he wants from her is a kiss on the hand and a quick embrace-all innocent except for the pounding of her heart.

37. Soliloquy
He is amazed-more than amazed; he is absolutely flabbergasted, astounded-by the words that are coming out of her mouth, and almost cannot bring himself to believe they are real, until she says again and again, I’m sorry-I love you-I truly want to marry you.

38. Sojourn (Goes with #5 - Worry)
She traveled alone by necessity, yet sometimes in the middle of the day as she walked along the forest-line she would see a stag or a particular tree that she wanted to show to him, and then would be vaguely saddened by the fact that he wasn’t with her-and then she wondered at herself for it: they were just friends, after all, if one could ever truly be “friends” with a noble.

39. Share
She did not like being forced to share her husband with the rest of the kingdom; but she satisfied herself with letting them have him throughout the day, for at night he was hers and hers alone.

40. Solitary
He had been happy in his solitude once, content with being the reclusive young lord who had very few noble friends and no romantic liaisons to clutter up his past, with only a very casual flirt from time to time; but when he met her he suddenly wanted terribly to be the kind of man who could form an attachment with someone without getting his heart broken along the way.

41. Nowhere
When she had met him her life had been going nowhere (but she would only have admitted it if she were forced to), but with his shout of Stop! and his amused laugh and his decision to keep her in his life, she had been taken off a dead-end road and put onto one that led to places she had never been.

42. Neutral
His expression was neutral, almost closed off as he sat beside her in the ice-encrusted garden and told her about his brother, but his gloveless hand was as cold as the air around them and she knew that beneath his “untouchable” mask he was just as human as she was.

43. Nuance
All it had taken was a tiny nuance in his expression for everything to change-suddenly the ever-blurred line between friendship and-something else-was blurred even further if not broken completely; she was terrified and sorrowful and bitter because she knew that no matter how much she wanted this (and oh, gods, did she want it) it could never happen.

44. Near
He was drowning in the emptiness in her eyes; he wanted to reach out to her and bring her to him but the ocean of sorrow that surrounded her was as deep as the ocean he stood in, and he could not.

45. Natural
The ocean was the perfect setting for her-it in its many moods (calm, tender, playful, gentle, raging, grey and sad) suited her perfectly; she looked as if she belonged there dancing barefoot in the icy waves, while he was an interloper in a heavy coat and thick boots that could not be cajoled into the water.

46. Horizon
Whenever she was with him the horizon felt near enough to touch, especially since she knew he would take her as far as she could ever possibly wish to go.

47. Valiant
He was the bravest man she had ever met-the bravest and most honest and strongest and… the list went on and on; and he was amazed by the stories she told him so offhandedly about her thieving-life in the Underworld, and knew he was the luckiest man in the world to be loved by such a valiant woman.

48. Virtuous
She often felt a bit guilty for “corrupting” him, as she liked to put it; when they had met he had been a very virtuous man, always following his motto of “patience is a virtue”, but she had taught him the values of impatience, and now he could never wait.

49. Victory
He had won several battles in his life, on and off the field, but he did not consider “winning” her as his love a victory, but a gift and blessing and miracle and defeat all at once.

50. Defeat
Sometimes he chased her through the halls of their private quarters, and then caught her and tossed her on their bed and kissed and tickled her mercilessly until she cried I yield! I yield!; and she knew that with him there was never any shame in defeat-that indeed there were many good things about losing.
