o01. Comfort
Cruller seems to think this pale, trembling woman in the medical ward of the Psychonauts Headquarters is Sasha Nein’s new partner, and he won’t listen when Sasha says he can’t give her the comfort she’ll need

o02. Kiss
in her mind all she can see is her dead, darling children and when Milla sees him leaning over her, eyes hidden by his glass, she arches up and kisses him, clinging to his life

o03. Soft
somehow Cruller convinces Sasha to take Milla on as his partner, to even let her rent the apartment next to his-with a certain exhaustion Sasha knows he’s getting too soft

o04. Pain
the pain of her mind (guilt, Cruller has explained, manifesting into a terrible psychic energy) is often too much to bear and Milla goes over to her partner’s apartment and Sasha lets her in without saying anything

o05. Potatoes
“you don’t have any healthy food in here, darling,” Milla says, tossing a potato from out of her grocery bag and it’s the first time he realizes she’s not overacting to hide her emotional scars; this is just how she is

from his window Sasha sees Milla standing out in the rain, soaked head to toe, but he doesn’t know why

o07. Chocolate
Sasha’s pantry in his apartment mostly consists of chocolate… or it did until Milla got her hands on it

the first time they bag a psychic terrorist together and Sasha tells her “good job, Milla” she realizes she’s actually happy

he’s on the phone when the first wave of pain washes over him and he’s already placed the phone back in the cradle when he realizes it’s Milla’s

of course, he doesn’t want to pry, so Sasha instead puts his ear to Milla’s door and is met with only stark silence

to go give her warning, he calls out her name when he goes into her apartment, but she’s quiet and still on the couch, limp and hot to the touch

there was never anything sexual about entering a person’s mind (at least, not for Sasha) but it feels more than a little sensual when he dives into the deepest core of Milla’s psyche

it’s hideous, twisted and deformed, fire and nightmares licking along a disco dance party, and Sasha is horrified because this is Milla’s mind

o014. Sex
shivering in his arms, now almost fully aware and in control of herself, Milla realizes that the way Sasha helped her get control of her mind is better than the sex she thought of offering him

they don’t tell Cruller Sasha’s touched and seen the most intimate parts of Milla’s mind

children were always Milla’s weakness and she just hated to think of Sasha as a little boy suffering the loss of his mother

Milla always understood the usefulness of a good cry and she doesn’t understand why Sasha doesn’t let the tears fall when they receive news that his father’s dead

wild and reckless, Milla hopped into the boat, ordering Sasha to take the wheel, and their fifth major mission went out with a bang

after the mission, both he and Milla manage to swim to shore and as Milla laughed passionately, swatting thick hair from her eyes, Sasha realizes he might just love the Mental Minx

o020. Freedom
Orleander has a plan, and he knows just how to wrangle Sasha and Milla into it-for Milla it’s the children and for Sasha the freedom of working in a private lab

the first child Sasha put in his Brain Tumbler nearly lost his life and Milla’s personality must have been affecting Sasha because he felt bad about it

when she’s feeling particularly down (and, thank God, it isn’t often) she admits she’s jealous that Sasha spends more time with his machines than he does with her

“darling, what brings you out to the lake?” she says and he could tell her the truth (he’s missed her, isolation isn’t what it used to be, he wants to see her) but instead he tells her he came to give her a hand

it’s when Milla invites him over for pie that Sasha reminds he’s actually tasted Milla once years ago and he’s suddenly unbearably hungry

devotion, Milla has found, is the way Sasha lets her drag him to a dance even though he hates dancing

“it can’t go on forever,” Milla tells him and Sasha thinks she’s talking about the camp but she’s really talking about them

he’s never seen her bleed before, Sasha realizes, and it sends waves of terror sliding down his spine when she trips on the docks and scrapes her knee-which explains why he isn’t too keen to go back there again

o028. Sickness
“are you sick?” Milla asks as she flirts around his lab, ignoring his uncomfortable body language, “you haven’t been out of your lab in days.”

o029. Melody
when Sasha doesn’t answer her, Milla sings to him and he’s finally forced to acknowledge her just to shut up her-Milla sings badly

o030. Star
“you never made a wish on a star, did you?” Milla accuses lightly of him when he finally remerges from his lab and notices another one rocketing across the sky above Sasha’s head, him completely unaware

o031. Home
it’s impossible to pinpoint the time when Milla and Sasha both saw Camp Whispering Rocks as home, but it probably happened at the same time

o032. Confusion
“I don’t get it,” he protests, a little unnerved by the fire in her eyes, and he still doesn’t get it, even when she leans up and kisses him

o033. Fear
it’s fear, plain and simple, that has him pulling away from Milla, but he lets her think it’s because he’s not interested

o034. Lightning
but he can’t forget the kiss; can anyone ever forget the feeling of lightning shooting up their spines?

o035. Bonds
in his mind, Sasha goes over many psychic bonds, and wonders how to go about getting a more solid bond around Milla’s finger

o036. Market
Milla’s flees to a small shopping district to escape her grief over Sasha’s rejection and she decides she’ll just have to win him over

o037. Technology
with Milla gone, Sasha fiddles with his machines as he tries to sort his thoughts out but this is the one situation where technology won’t help him

o038. Gift
because he’s still not quite sure what to do (or how to do it) Sasha accepts the gift Milla offers him when she suggests they just be friends

o039. Smile
for the first time when Milla smiles at a child (this time a young boy calling himself ‘Razputin’) a shiver wrecks Sasha’s stomach

o040. Innocence
the innocence and sheer childish nature of Razputin is what makes Milla think that he’ll do Sasha some good

o041. Completion
and, then, suddenly Sasha has it all figured out and he goes to tell Milla so, lying to Razputin about it (“official Psychonaut’s business” yeah right)

o042. Clouds
she’s trying to levitate her way into the clouds when she notices Sasha heading her way

o043. Sky
“I need to tell you something,” Sasha says calmly, sliding his glasses off his face and Milla sees the clearest day would be, from now on, lacking

o044. Heaven
what she thinks will be heaven-especially when Sasha begins, “Milla, I”-turns out to be nothing more than darkness swarming her brain

o045. Hell
and Sasha wakes up in hell, Milla across from him and moaning her sleep, and a mad dentist strutting beside him and muttering about ‘brains’

when Milla awakens she tries to smile reassuringly at Sasha, but the brightness of her smile is much dimmer

o047. Moon
Sasha can only look away as the dentist takes Milla’s brain first, and he prays Razputin finds them as night falls

o048. Waves
a wave of awareness washes over her body and Milla is back, letting Sasha help her to her feet

o049. Hair
it’s Milla’s hair tickling his neck that awakens Sasha, long before Razputin’s father can, and he realizes he’s going to have to tell her

o050. Supernova
for the two months remaining in the summer, Sasha and Milla come together like stars burning hot and white in the blackness of space
