01 Air
Laura Roslin remembered the scent of the air on Kobol.
02 Apples
It made her think of the green flavor of fresh apples.
03 Beginning
She was beginning to hate the fact that the scent of fresh air and the flavor of fresh fruit were things she could only remember and not experience.
04 Bugs
But then, there were negatives to nature... like bugs.
05 Coffee
“Bill,” she said, “what's in this coffee?”
06 Dark
There seemed to be something floating in the dark depths of the cup he had just handed her.
07 Despair
She had a brief but amusing fantasy of a tiny creature paddling about in despair.
08 Doors
“There's coffee in the coffee,” William Adama told her, snapping the doors shut on the casket that held his precious stash.
09 Drink
“Just drink it.”
10 Duty
She grimly stuck a finger into the hot liquid and fished whatever it was out, hoping it hadn't made any deposits while it was in there.
11 Earth
“Have the astronomers gotten any closer to figuring out where Earth is?” she asked.
12 End
“They're working on it,” Adama assured her, sitting on the end of the table.
13 Fall
She eyed him as he sat there, wondering if she should tell him about her fall.
14 Fire
“You think I should light a fire under them?” he asked, taking a sip of his own coffee.
15 Flexible
She crossed one leg carefully over the other, and he marveled, not for the first time, at her flexibility.
16 Flying
He smiled and, as usual, all coherent thought went flying at the sight of his grin.
17 Food
You're so important to me, she thought, more than food, more than water...
18 Foot
“Laura, are you listening to me?” he asked, shifting his feet impatiently.
19 Grave
She tried to put on a serious face.
20 Green
But for some reason, the green memory of the flavor of fresh fruit returned to her.
21 Head
She shook her head.
22 Hollow
“I'm sorry,” she said, thinking of the hollow emptiness of any excuses she might make.
23 Honor
It would be more honorable for me to just tell him.
24 Hope
She hoped her confession would be received in the spirit it was given.
25 Light
Adama sensed something was bothering her and tried to keep his voice light.
26 Lost
“You seem lost,” he said.
27 Metal
She summoned the steel inside her.
28 New
“I've begun to see you in a new way,” she said.
29 Old
“Was there something wrong with the old way?” he said.
30 Peace
“There could never be any peace between us if I continued to see you that way,” she said.
31 Poison
“It was poisoning all our interactions.”
32 Pretty
He gazed at her, suddenly forgetting the subject of the conversation, taken by how pretty she was.
33 Rain
The color of her eyes made him think of rain.
34 Regret
He felt regret that he had never told her this.
35 Roses
“I wish I had flowers to give you... roses,” he said.
36 Secret
“I think you know my secret,” Laura said and smiled.
37 Snakes
Her stomach felt jumpy, as if a dozen snakes had nested there.
38 Snow
He felt tickling along his nerve endings, as if snowflakes were lighting on his skin.
39 Solid
He set his coffee cup down, thankful for the solidity of the table.
40 Spring
“It's spring, isn't it,” he remarked.
41 Stable
“Only if you're stable of mind and body,” she replied.
42 Strange
“That's a strange way to look at it,” Adama said.
43 Summer
“I much prefer the heat of summer,” Laura said.
44 Taboo
She closed her lips firmly over the next words that threatened to emerge, afraid of breaking taboo; one doesn't make passes at battlestar commanders.
45 Ugly
“This could get ugly,” he agreed, somehow understanding where she was going with all this.
46 War
“It could start another war,” she murmured.
47 Water
Adama said, “I can live without you about as well as I can live without water.”
48 Welcome
Laura stared at him, never in her life having heard such welcome words.
49 Winter
She smiled and said, “The winter is over, I think.”
50 Wood
And the two of them looked forward to the blazing fire that the wood they'd brought to stoke it would create.
