Listen, I'm sorry that we all spread that around. I don't think there's any one person to blame, but pretty much everyone was talking about it, and I did participate in conversations regarding it myself.
I think what people were shocked about was that McFar told us all in class leading up to the term paper that it would be 10 points off each day that it was late. And now, apparently, it's really only 5 points off... I think if more people knew that, they would have been more likely to turn it in late, too. Or something. Do you know what I mean? The "using her mom as an excuse" thing probably just added to that... but I'm sure people would have been mad either way.
I'm sorry that I took part in the spreading of that rumor. It was wrong, not just for me, but for everyone that did, so I apologize because I bet the other 99% of our grade who was talking about it won't even acknowledge that they were wrong.
And PS - All of our teachers talk to each other... every teacher knows about every illness in every family, so I wouldn't be surprised if MoCo or anyone else that knows has passed it around.
On another note - how is your mother's treatment going?
